The Stewardship Director/Pastor provides vision, leadership, and strategic oversight for generosity and stewardship initiatives across all campuses of the church. This role is responsible for advancing a biblical culture of generosity by leading the Kingdom Builders model, equipping congregants in financial discipleship, cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, and leveraging data to inform strategy and decision-making. Core responsibilities include shepherding and engaging Kingdom Builders leaders and participants, delivering financial discipleship and stewardship education, overseeing effective and personalized donor communication, and analyzing giving trends to produce clear, actionable reports. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position reporting to the Executive Pastor of Discipleship.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Vision, Teaching & Generosity Strategy

  • Champion a biblical theology of generosity and stewardship across all campuses, aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Facilitate and oversee the Kingdom Builders (or equivalent) generosity model, helping congregants understand and engage in funding mission beyond the general fund.
  • Partner with senior leadership to integrate generosity and Kingdom Builders vision into sermons, annual initiatives, and church-wide campaigns.

Donor Engagement & Pastoral Care

  • Build and steward relationships with individuals and families, including high-net-worth donors, offering pastoral care and strategic generosity guidance.
  • Meet one-on-one with donors to discuss giving goals, Kingdom Builders participation, legacy giving, and alignment with ministry priorities.
  • Maintain a high level of discretion, trust, and professionalism in all donor relationships.

Kingdom Builders Leadership & Execution

  • Provide leadership for Kingdom Builders initiatives, including vision casting, project development, communication, and annual commitments.
  • Collaborate with global missions, local outreach, NextGen, and capital project leaders to identify and prioritize Kingdom Builders opportunities.
  • Track Kingdom Builders’ commitments and giving, ensuring clarity, accountability, and alignment with approved initiatives.
  • Plan and execute Kingdom Builders-focused events, gatherings, and donor briefings.

Strategic Planning & Events

  • Plan and execute generosity initiatives, giving campaigns, donor gatherings, vision nights, and appreciation events.
  • Partner with communications, finance, and campus teams to ensure consistent messaging and execution across all sites.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of generosity and Kingdom Builders initiatives and refine strategies accordingly.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze giving trends, donor engagement data, and campaign performance across general giving and Kingdom Builders.
  • Create clear, actionable reports for executive leadership, finance teams, and boards, translating data into insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor giving health across campuses, demographics, and initiative types.

Financial Literacy & Stewardship Resources

  • Develop and oversee stewardship pathways, classes, and resources addressing budgeting, generosity, and long-term financial planning.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of retirement and planned giving vehicles (e.g., IRAs, donor-advised funds, qualified charitable distributions, donor-advised funds, estate giving) and coordinate with external advisors as appropriate.
  • Ensure stewardship guidance remains pastoral, ethical, and compliant with church policies.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Finance, Development, Communications, Global/Local Outreach, and Campus Pastors to ensure alignment and excellence.
  • Equip campus leaders and volunteers to confidently communicate the generosity and Kingdom Builders vision.
  • Contribute to long-range ministry and financial planning in a large, multisite environment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises Generosity Coordinator

This position works with volunteers and must have an understanding that volunteers are key to the ministry of the church, and the employee must have a heart to recruit, train, equip and support volunteers in fulfilling their roles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, ministry or business preferred. In addition, minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in vocational ministry, financial planning, or business. Related experience includes proven track record of effective leadership as a church leader and/or experience overseeing financial management practices.
