PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Missions Pastor’s primary responsibility is to provide directional leadership for local and global outreach for all campuses of Northview Church. This is achieved by aligning with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Northview Church.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Outreach Duties:

  • Determines and implements overall local and global outreach strategies for Northview Church
  • Leads outreach staff team to develop, refine, and implement outreach strategies
  • Works with campus pastors and outreach ministry associates on local outreach strategies
  • Meets with congregants to equip and develop future leaders within the outreach ministry
  • Creates new initiatives to drive outreach, discipleship, and church growth
  • Works with the Missions Leadership Team on major funding decisions for accountability purposes
  • Develops and manages complex budgets

Partnership Duties:

  • Maintains, grows, and evaluates relationships with ministry partners 
  • Participates in go-trips as a leader or to meet with global strategic partners 
  • Travels at times to explore new partnerships (vision trips)
  • Provides and directs partner care for the missionaries that Northview supports

 

Administrative/Pastoral Duties

  • Works weekend services
  • Writes and administers grants
  • Creates and maintains the Missions Ministry Budget
  • Performs weddings/funerals/baptisms when needed (ordained pastors)
  • Provides Pastoral guidance and care when needed
  • Networks with other large churches for research and ideas
  • Conducts Performance reviews and gives employees feedback
  • Shows commitment to cultural standards
  • Checks email and voicemail and returns phone calls within 24 hours
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the manager
  • Leads and manages staff team

 

This job description outlines the key responsibilities of the position. However, as with any ministry role, there are often additional tasks and responsibilities that arise. We’re a team at Northview, and as needed we all pitch-in and help however we can.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from a four-year college, university, or seminary and three to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ordination is preferred.

Related experience includes leading volunteers in a large church, specifically in Missions ministry. Must have proven experience in the ability to lead and shepherd.

This position requires 25%-30% of overnight travel on a regular basis.  This position is out of the country for about 4 to 6 weeks in a calendar year, traveling on mission trips. Knowledge and experience in travel are required. Valid US Passport, ability to travel, meet visa requirements, and possible travel medical requirements (vaccines and travel meds).
