Position Overview 

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive and strategic, visionary, and relational leader of Mission Triangle. After 15 years, our current beloved ED is retiring. We're seeking our next ED - someone who will advance Mission Triangle’s mission to help Christian-led nonprofits expand Kingdom impact by stewarding vision and culture, leading strategic growth, strengthening the Christian nonprofit ecosystem, and building a healthy, sustainable organization grounded in business best practice and biblical leadership principles. We are flexible regarding start date - the latest start date possible would be November 2026 to allow for ample transition time between the current ED and new ED.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Vision & Strategy
    • Serve as the primary visionary and steward of Mission Triangle’s mission and long-term Kingdom impact in partnership with the Board
    • Lead multi-year visioning, annual priorities, and quarterly objectives
    • Identify emerging needs and opportunities within the Christian nonprofit ecosystem to position Mission Triangle as a trusted leader and convener 
  • Team & Culture Leadership
    • Build, lead, and develop a high-capacity, mission-aligned staff 
    • Foster a healthy, Christ-centered organizational culture marked by clarity, trust, accountability, and excellence
    • Coach and empower senior staff leaders while maintaining strong cross-team alignment
  • Board & Governance Partnership
    • Support the Board in governance and strategic oversight
    • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors and its committees
  • Programmatic Leadership & Impact
    • Provide executive oversight of Mission Triangle’s Assess–Train–Implement model
    • Ensure program offerings remain effective, scalable, mission-aligned and meet our nonprofits’ needs
    • Champion excellence, evaluation, and continuous improvement across all capacity-building programs
  • Fundraising & Revenue Development
    • Lead overall fundraising and revenue strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability
    • Champion transformational fundraising and partner with the Board to execute development strategies supporting a $1.5M+ annual operating budget
    • Personally engage, cultivate, and steward key champions, major donors, and partners
  • Growth, Partnerships & Ecosystem Leadership
    • Cultivate and steward high-impact relationships with nonprofit leaders, churches, funders, business leaders, and strategic partners
    • Serve as a visible ambassador and connector for Mission Triangle across the Triangle and to other markets
    • Identify, launch, and scale strategic partnerships and initiatives that expand reach, deepen impact, or generate earned revenue
    • Lead the thoughtful replication and expansion of the Mission Triangle model to other markets
  • Brand, Voice & Thought Leadership
    • Serve as Mission Triangle’s chief storyteller and spokesperson
    • Ensure clear, compelling, and consistent messaging across communications, events, and partnerships
    • Strengthen Mission Triangle’s reputation as a trusted leader in nonprofit capacity-building and Kingdom collaboration 

Qualifications

  • Mission & Calling
    • Mature follower of Jesus Christ with a clear calling to advance Kingdom impact through Christian nonprofits
    • Active involvement in a church and full agreement with Mission Triangle’s statement of faith and values
    • Embodies a Kingdom Coalition mindset, committed to strengthening the broader Christian nonprofit ecosystem
    • Leads with humility, integrity, courage, and spiritual and emotional maturity
  • Growth-Stage Leadership
    • Proven experience leading organizations through growth while preserving mission, culture, and values
    • Strategic, high-judgment leader who balances vision with disciplined execution
    • Comfortable leading through complexity, ambiguity, and change
  • Training & Capacity-Building Expertise
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit capacity-building, leadership development, coaching, and training programs
    • Experience designing, delivering, evaluating, or scaling leadership development initiatives
    • Demonstrated ability to innovate, adapt programs, and measure impact
  • Strategic Growth & Revenue Experience
    • Track record of identifying growth opportunities, forming partnerships, and launching or scaling initiatives
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising and revenue development across philanthropy, grants, and earned income
    • Comfortable operating in matrix environments where funders may also be partners or clients
  • Relational & Communication Excellence
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly relational leader able to inspire confidence and mobilize diverse stakeholders
    • Natural connector and convener who galvanizes others around a shared Kingdom mission
  • Experience & Background
    • At least 7 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit and/or business settings
    • Experience in organizations with $1M–$5M annual budgets, particularly during growth or transition
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
