Position Overview 

The Program Director will lead Mission Triangle’s program strategy to equip nonprofits by teaching business best practices combined with biblical truth so that their missional impact expands. The Program Director serves on the leadership team, reporting to the Executive Director, and helps Mission Triangle design & deliver resources to build healthy and sustainable nonprofits. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Integration of Mission Triangle programs 

  • Own all offerings for our model, maintaining excellence of “no cost” model and revenue generating supplements.
  • Utilize data, feedback, assessments (2-3 years from broader community), and community resources to enhance or identify new complementary offerings.
  • Ensure Mission Triangle communications keep nonprofits engaged and attract nonprofits and funding that reflect the Triangle region.   
  • Ensure relevance, effectiveness and impact of programs to hit annual goals and benchmarks including our key outcome metric: improved nonprofit health.
  • Offerings include:
    • Assessing
      • Lead the continued development, improvement, and delivery of a robust assessment process to include the Thrive Index.
      • Establish value of the assessing program to nonprofits, board members and the giving community.
      • Ensure all our programs lead to documented health for individual nonprofits and collectively for Mission Triangle’s outcome and impact measures.
    • Training:   
      • Ensure workshops & small groups are executed effectively.
      • Develop, improve, and grow adoption and utilization of PathWay (digital learning platform) to Triangle community and beyond.  
      • Integrate PathWay resources and content throughout live programming.
    • Implementation:
      • Ensure consistent and quality coaching provided to help nonprofits implement that which we teach in their journey to thriving.
      • Ensure the Thrive Plan is utilized throughout programming.
      • Ensure Fee-Based Services (consulting, cohorts) meet customer needs and revenue goals (manage the P&L of each different offering).
        • Train, lead, and develop consultants on competency best practices, philosophy and MT tools.
      • Support MT's annual nonprofit community showcase program ("Shark Tank"): selection, training, and support of nonprofits.

Team and organizational leadership

  • Program Team leadership: Manage, support and enable the Program Team members to meet their goals.
  • Mission Triangle leadership: Work with leadership team to strategic plan for Mission Triangle including setting program Strategic Initiatives and helping our team achieve our WIG (wildly important goal). 

Curriculum consistency across programs/offerings 

  • Ensure cohesiveness of program and content.
  • Ensure curriculum is continuously refreshed and updated to ensure relevance, engaging with current literature and cultural needs; oversee new curriculum development / enhancements as needed. 
  • Commit all programming to the philosophy of “continuous improvement” with regard to organizational health (a journey, not a destination).
  • Develop and maintain a workshop and small group training program to complement each competency– designed to move nonprofits forward in their Thrive Plan through sharing of best practices and help with execution.
  • Develop training strategy & curriculum to grow nonprofit clients in MT’s 6 Core Competencies.
  • Determine appropriate delivery channel to accomplish training goals and serve the nonprofits, leveraging adult learning principles (ie case studies, learning labs).
  • Compile key resources to be used across all programs (incorporating various adult learning principles and a variety of channels: video, lecture, story, small group, books, interviews, podcasts, etc.) 

Qualifications

The Program Director must be a mature follower of Jesus Christ, actively involved in an evangelical church, and committed to growing as a leader, teacher, coach, and disciple-maker. 

  • Agreement with the MT statement of faith and values.
  • Reputation at home, workplace, and in the community as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, grow, lead, develop, and retain a community of nonprofit, staff and volunteer champions.
  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit leadership at multiple levels (board or staff).
  • 5+ years of business / corporate experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven leadership and management experience assembling, developing and leading a team to grow a healthy organization.
  • 4-year degree required, and Masters-degree preferred. 

Working Conditions 

The Program Director is expected to work an average of 40-45 hours per week.  The job is predominantly office-based by necessity, most hours are during core office hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Activities/events may require occasional evening, early morning or possible weekend work. Must be able to and willing to lift items up to 25 pounds.
