The Research Analyst Intern is part of the Learning Team which is responsible for assisting in research and evaluation of initiatives of the Foundation, including funded projects and programs.  The primary purpose of this position is to support the Learning Team with research and data analysis under the direction and guidance of the Director of Learning. 

We are looking for a qualified Intern applicant who is a determined and creative problem solver to work with a dynamic, analytic-oriented team of researchers on race equity issues. For this internship position, the successful candidate must have experience using quantitative analysis software (e. g, Microsoft Power BI, SAS, SPSS, etc.); and data visualization software. Experience with Qualitative Analysis Software and ArcGIS are highly desired.

This internship requires that the selected candidate be adaptable, and able to respond to a variety of tasks, be able to shift their focus in response to priorities and be able to integrate new information. In return, Research Analyst interns are given the opportunity to learn invaluable problem-solving skills, conduct high-impact research, further refine their analytical skills as team members, and have a positive impact on race equity.  During 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Research Analyst Intern will work remotely. The work schedule is up to 25 hours a week through December 2020. Applicant must be a current masters or doctorate student enrolled in a College or University degree program.  The Foundation is also willing to work with college programs in which credit is offered for internships for the right applicant.

Core Responsibilities

While the Research Analyst Intern is expected to contribute in many ways to a research team, typical responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist the Learning Team with the development and assessment of race-equity outcomes to include establishing baselines on outcomes for various initiatives and programs and assessing impact and improvement in outcomes.
  • Be responsible for conducting statistical analyses of programmatic data.
  • Research best practices for achieving race equity in various sectors.
  • Assess policy and legislative implications on the community.
  • Participate in various coordination and planning efforts with collaborators internal and external to the Department.
  • Create white papers of research for consumption by Foundation executive staff and partners, and other responsibilities as assigned. 
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for the Learning Team members and/or supervisor
  • Prepare progress reports for the foundation
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
  • Maintain dashboards
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Learning


Qualifications/Skills:

ü  Graduate student in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, psychology, or related field. 

ü  Experience using quantitative analysis software (e. g, Microsoft Power BI, SAS, SPSS, etc.)

ü  Experience using data visualization software.

ü  Experience with Qualitative Analysis Software and ArcGIS are highly desired.

ü  Experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications

ü  Proven ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

ü  Strong communication and interpersonal skills, in English.

ü  Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment. Possesses strong critical thinking skills with an ability to find new ways of solving old problems.

ü  Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.

ü  Ability to multi-task and exercise strong time management skills.

ü  Ability to adapt to changing deadlines.
