Long Island’s leading butcher shop, Farmingdale Meat Market/Main Street Wholesale Meats, is looking for a Production Generalist to join our team! Family-owned and operated for three generations, our company is continuously growing—join us in providing the finest meats since 1946!

The Production Generalist assists in all areas of the wholesale/retail production process to ensure the tasks of the day are completed. This position requires individuals to perform work in a repetitive and fast-paced environment to complete various processes including weighing, bagging, and packing, unpacking, labeling, and boxing of meat products

The start time for this position is 4:00 am. Because the work schedule is based on a 7 day/week operation, workdays may fluctuate from week to week based on production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Weigh and package steaks and chops for individual servings
•    Pulls tickets to assemble orders for delivery
•    Unloads product delivery and stocks materials in designated areas
•    Assists with product inventory when needed
•    Assist with cryo-vac machines
•    Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
•    Maintaining a safe and clean work environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
•    Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly. 
•    Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions in warm and cool environments. 
•    Exposure to slippery surfaces and moving mechanical parts in a fast-paced production environment. 
•    Ability to stand for extended periods of time and frequently use stairs. 
•    Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas. 
•    Ability to work in various areas of the facility as operational needs require.

Qualifications
•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Ability to read, write, and utilize basic mathematical skills.
•    Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills & Experience
•    Experience in operation of warehouse equipment is preferred.
•    Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
