Family owned an operated for three generations, Farmingdale Meat Market, Inc. has been providing exceptional service and products to their wholesale and retail customers for over 78 years.  We are looking for a Director of Finance and Administration to help drive growth, innovation, and financial excellence in a thriving wholesale and retail environment.

Summary:
The Director of Finance will be responsible for the overall financial management of the company. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, effective cost management, and smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to the management team.
  • Provide regular updates to the management team on financial performance, administrative issues, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and analysis to monitor performance, control costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve financial efficiency.
  • Partner with external accounting firm to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
  • Manage business insurance policies including property, liability, and workers’ compensation.
  • Oversee company automobile leasing agreements and ensure cost-effective management of the fleet.
  • Partner with the HR Manager on 401k plan administration, including compliance with relevant regulations and employee education.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance and administration, preferably in a wholesale or distribution environment. Experience in a family-owned business is a plus.
  • At least 8-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in the distribution or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with 401(k) administration and insurance management.
  • Familiarity with truck leasing and fleet management.
