Job Title: Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY
The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, will be responsible for stewarding, cultivating and soliciting corporate and foundation donors and prospects to help secure support for Arizona Science Center’s STEM education programs, initiatives, events, etc. This individual will prepare written solicitations for funding via formal grant applications and sponsorship proposals, manage and steward a select portfolio of corporate and foundation funders, and research and qualify new prospective funders for solicitation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is an important team member in the overall fundraising plan working directly with corporate and foundation donors and prospects. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Meet or exceed annual contributed revenue goals, as designated by annual corporate and foundation plan
- Work with other Development staff and ASC teams to identify best-fit funding opportunities for corporate/foundation funders.
- Research, identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit new prospective corporate/foundation funders for support.
- Grant/Sponsorship Proposals Creation
- Prepare well-written, thorough grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and letters of inquiry (when applicable), ensuring all guidelines, requirements, and deadlines are met.
- Acquire solid knowledge of ASC and its programs in order to communicate opportunities for support and engagement.
- Work with other ASC teams to create program-specific budgets (when applicable) as requested per grant applications.
- Create written summaries of ASC programs for support to share with current and prospective corporate/foundation funders.
- Review/edit deliverables created by Grants Consultant
- Relationship Management/Stewardship
- Manage and maintain corporate/foundation relationships, keeping in regular contact and ensuring that all donor recognition and tangible benefits are delivered, along with reporting requirements.
- Create and maintain corporate/foundation funder interim/final reports, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met.
- Grants Management/Administration
- Work with SVP, Development and Grants Consultant to manage grant tracking and reporting tools and processes.
- Work with Development Coordinator to ensure corporate/foundation donor files are maintained and up-to-date.
- Development Support
- Work with Development staff to support special events: Exhibit openings, President’s Club, Galaxy Gala, etc.
- Occasional nights, evenings and weekends required. Occasional travel is a possibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of two-three years related fundraising experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytic, written, computer and verbal communication skills a must.
- Stellar written and communication skills are a must, as the individual who fills this position must compose original narratives quickly and accurately and make solicitation presentations to donors.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and interact with staff, trustees, donors, visitors and the general public both in person and by phone.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Creative and energetic.
- Detail-oriented self-starter capable of juggling multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with donor database systems, Tessitura preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment a must.
- Ability to multi-task, effectively manage concurrent process/projects and be able to focus on the small but important details in all projects.
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining a sense of humor.
- Outstanding communications skills a must, as this position interacts frequently with donors, volunteers and staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to develop strategies of mutual benefit to both the Science Center and donors.

This job also requires the use of a computer which will be placed somewhere in the employee's workspace. The employee must have the necessary keyboard and computer mouse skills as well as the ability to read a color monitor.
Physical demands include proofing of written materials.
