Communications & Digital Content Internship
Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) is Central Florida’s most comprehensive health and human services charity and seeks to provide an all-encompassing internship to students. The Marketing & Communications Department seeks an intern to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the organization’s mission. The following is a description of the internship available.
I. Organizational Relationship and Reporting:
The Marketing & Communications Intern reports to the Multimedia Marketing Manager.
II. Responsibilities:
A. Uphold a high standard of excellence through various forms of marketing and communications.
B. To support the organizational mission and goals.
C. To perform assigned tasks and communicate status of current projects.
III. Duties:
The Marketing & Communications Intern will perform but not be limited to the following duties:
A. Assist in social media content development
B. Report & track social media activity
C. Assist with details related to United Way special events
D. Assist in the preparation of news releases, media materials and human interest feature stories
E. Conduct research as needed
F. Assist in copy writing for marketing materials, as needed
G. Support the ongoing activities of the communications department in copying, word processing and research projects when needed
H. Monitor news stories and assist in developing timely news hooks for media stories
IV. Qualifications:
The qualifications for the position of Marketing & Communications intern are as follows:
A. Excellent written and verbal skills.
B. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (required).
C. Ability to work well with staff and volunteers at all levels in the workplace and community.
D. Must be detailed oriented, multi-tasked oriented and very organized.
E. Knowledge of AP Style
F. Professional presentation
G. Self-starting & positive attitude
H. Familiar with social media outlets – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube & WordPress
