OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

Under the supervision of the Emergency Assistance Programs Manager, help promote financial stability by providing emergency financial assistance case management to Central Florida households.  The case manager will work directly with clients and vendors to assist with Heart of Florida United Way’s emergency assistance programs. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·         Monitor and download client applications and review for accuracy and completeness.

·         Communicate with vendors and clients as needed to process applications for assistance.

·         Maintain accurate and timely records of clients through detailed case noting of assessments, contacts, and progress using required case management forms and electronic records.

·         Complete required documentation to issue payment to vendors directly. 

·         Assist with data collection and creating reports for internal and external stakeholders. 

·         Provide direct case management services to include screening referrals for clients in need of one-time assistance; assessing clients for eligible services, and developing and implementing trainings, activities and other related services for clients as required.   

·         Complete referrals for services in the community and coordinates access to those services. 

·         Provide administrative and processing support for the Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP), to include processing, entering data in the EFSP website as necessary, and providing support to the EFSP Local Board meetings (scheduling meetings, sending calendar invitations, managing attendance, preparing materials, and developing meeting minutes).

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Associate’s degree or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field of study from an accredited college or university field preferred. 

·         Case management experience preferred; prior experience with social services preferred. 

·         Prior nonprofit experience preferred.

·         Multilingual preferred (Spanish and/ or Creole proficient)

·         Work requires excellent reading, writing and proofreading skills.  Must be able to edit, complete and assemble reports.

·         Must be able to prioritize heavy workload in fast-paced environment.

·         Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

·         Strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, as well as general Internet and electronic communications.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting of items weighing up to approximately 30 pounds, regularly moving throughout the building between floors, traveling to outside meetings, regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax and computer.  Demands also involve protracted concentration.  Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required as this position will travel throughout the Central Florida area. Job involves frequent and routinely intense public contact.
