OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

The Manager of Hispanic Community Engagement will develop, plan, implement, and manage a comprehensive outreach and engagement strategy for the Hispanic/Latino community. Outreach and engagement efforts include, but are not limited to, engaging community organizations serving the Hispanic community, prospective donors from the Hispanic community, showcasing Heart of Florida United Way’s (HFUW) work in the community and serving the Hispanic population.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·         Develop and review annual and multi-year strategic plan with Senior Vice President of Donor and Volunteer Experience to include, but not be limited to, engaging community organizations serving the Hispanic community, prospective donors within the Hispanic community, showcasing HFUW work in the community and serving the Hispanic population.

·         Implement and manage Hispanic Community Engagement program supporting HFUW.

·         Oversee and assist in the development and achievement of annual/multi-year goals.

·         Set measurable goals related to engagement of community organizations, prospective donors, media partners, etc.

·         Track and evaluate effectiveness of strategies and overall results.

·         Oversee prospect list development and maintenance in a HFUW’s comprehensive database and/or customer relationship management (CRM) system.

·         Establish oneself as a resource and contact for the community.

·         Connect individuals from the Hispanic market to appropriate HFUW staff in their relationship with HFUW.

·         Coordinate with Resource Development team to identify philanthropic goals and objectives that this position can support.

·         Coordinate with Senior Vice President of Donor and Volunteer Experience to position HFUW’s work in serving the Hispanic community and engaging Hispanic community leaders in public relations efforts.

·         Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to develop targeted communications efforts to engage the Hispanic community or to showcase HFUW’s impact on the Hispanic community.

·         Remain knowledgeable about HFUW’s services and products, as well as issues impacting the community we serve.

·         Engage community leaders to increase support the mission of HFUW.

·         Organize meetings and forums to engage the Hispanic community.

·         Identify and build relationships with organizations that serve the Hispanic community.

·         Coordinate with Strategic Investment and Community Impact to engage community organizations serving the Hispanic community. 

·         Collaborate with appropriate HFUW staff working on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

·         Offer insights, recommendations and plans of action for future direction of outreach programs so they maximize effectiveness of services provided.

·         Collaborate Volunteer Resource Center departments to tailor strategies for the individuals and prospects within assigned portfolio.

·         Identify and engage prospective donors in the Hispanic Community.

·         Coordinate with Vice President of Annual Campaign for the annual campaign for companies affiliated with corporate and individual donors and prospects within assigned portfolio. 

·         Coordinate with Director of Key Donor Segments to create fundraising strategy plans to engage key Hispanic civic/community groups.

·         Coordinate with Director of Major Gifts to cultivate Hispanic donors in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, Legacy Society, etc.

·         Collaborate with Individuals Engagement Manager to coordinate effective giving campaign solicitations, as needed, and ensure data is reflected in HFUW’s CRM system.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

·         Creates Win-Win Relationships: Understands United Way and donor objectives and where they intersect; Identifies tangible outcomes that benefit both parties; Identifies strategies and opportunities to build trust; Engages with donors year-round, not just during campaign season, to nurture and enhance relationships.

·         Manages Data, Analytics, and Research: Manages donor data efficiently and accurately such as inputting donor visit notes, updating annual donor roster names and contact information, resolving conflicting data and information, producing ongoing donor and prospect research, recording donor communications as well as contact, biographic and preference information in donor database; Identifies and researches lapsed and potentially-lapsing donors and works to re-engage these donors.

·         Develops a Plan: Using community and donor data, creates plan(s) for identifying prospective donors and creating and positioning products.

·         Presents to the Donor: Creates and presents written or verbal information about donor options in a professional and compelling way; Leads and navigates discussions that result in mutual satisfaction and benefit; Addresses donor questions and objectives; gains donor commitment in a timely manner.

·         Collaborates with Community Impact: Engages CI in donor engagement and fundraising by learning details of current community impact solutions; Shares information with CI about donor needs and interests to improve existing products and create new ones; Encourages and supports CI interactions with donors for expertise, influence, and ongoing product development.

·         Collaborates with Donor Engagement: Understands the value and impact of donor engagement solutions (e.g., volunteerism) on donor retention and loyalty; Communicates and advocates for donor engagement solutions; Considers and addresses donor engagement strategies in decision-making and actions.

·         Collaborates with Communications: Connects with communications to share how the donor would like to be recognized; Develops a strategy to build donor reputation in front of the appropriate audience(s).

·         Brand-Steward: Steward of the brand and understands the role in growing and protecting the reputation and results of HFUW and the greater network.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. 

·         Eight or more years’ professional work experience, with five or more years’ previous experience in a fundraising, development, sales, communication and/or public relations capacity required.  Thorough working knowledge of relationship-based fund raising procedures and philosophies.

·         Ability to network with donors, corporate leaders and other development professionals required.

·         Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required.

·         Experience and proficiency with a customer relationship management (CRM) platform; Andar preferred.

·         Excellent presentation/training skills.

·         Excellent written/verbal/listening skills.

·         Ability to work with volunteer development and provide proven management skills.

·         Interpersonal skills needed to perceive and react sensitively to the needs and interests of potential donors.

·         Ability to inspire confidence in United Way volunteer leadership, staff, professional advisors and potential donors.

·         Familiarity and commitment with the Hispanic community, Hispanic-serving nonprofit organizations, and the Hispanic business market a plus.

·         Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and in a variety of situations, including consensus building and activation.

·         Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

·         Strong ability to develop and execute work plans, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks.

·         Bilingual in both spoken and written Spanish/English; strong writing and presentation skills.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting of items weighing up to approximately 30 pounds, regularly moving throughout the building between floors, traveling to outside meetings, regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax and computer.  Demands also involve protracted concentration.  Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required as this position will travel throughout the Central Florida area. Job involves frequent and routinely intense public contact.
