About the role:

We are seeking a Public Relations (PR) Specialist to oversee our communications and media relations. The PR Specialist will work directly with the Head of Integrated Brand Marketing to create and implement a strategy to engage customers and build brand trust.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience with corporate comms, specifically in the consumer goods space. 


What you’ll do:

  • In partnership with Head of Integrated Brand Marketing, create and manage the PR strategy, including budgets, timelines, etc.; seek high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media

  • Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices

  • Respond to media inquiries and maintain relationships with journalists and other members of the press

  • Proactively research, identify and coordinate opportunities for the Executive team. Including, but not limited to interviews, conferences/panels, relevant business podcasts

  • Create messaging for press releases, as well as create briefing docs for interviews, presentations and other relevant outlets

  • Perform outreach to press outlets, magazines, etc. and build strategic partnerships to grow brand visibility 

  • Evaluate opportunities for events,  partnerships, and sponsorships on an ongoing basis, and work closely with the performance marketing team to identify advertising opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Social Media to align on a content calendar that incorporates key brand messaging and moments

  • Liaise with the Merchandising team to support promotional events across relevant earned media channels

  • Track weekly, monthly and quarterly media coverage and communicate key placements to the social and paid marketing teams; press to highlight via social and sponsored posts. 

  • Help prepare quarterly investor/board meeting reports highlighting media coverage and success.

  • Track and maintain budgets


What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years experience in public relations

  • Experience in project management and execution of PR campaigns and/or initiatives

  • Experience in copywriting and editing

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Proficient computer skills as well as the ability to learn new software programs; 

  • Knowledge of Google Suite and MSO products preferred

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook etc.)

  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
