About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Wholesale leader to develop and implement a sales strategy to drive high growth and premium presence in our women’s wholesale distribution. They’ll use the leadership team’s feedback to add adjustments and improvements to their current sales target strategies. The Director of Sales will conduct research on the competition and work closely with the merchandising and planning teams to help develop desirable product and pricing strategies that best fit the customer’s needs. The ideal candidate is experienced in and passionate about the apparel space and is equally talented in working with numbers and people. They must have a proven track record of growing a business/brand and achieving results, with a command for forecasting and managing plans to ensure sell-in success and healthy sell-thru.
What you’ll do:
Create and implement comprehensive market strategies as a means of producing new business opportunities for the women’s growth channel
Liaise with CGO and CFO team to align on sales targets and timing by channel as well as individual account executives
Oversee and manage budget and P&L
Partner with the merchandising team to curate product lines, proper assortments, and categories to maximize market opportunities
Partner with the planning team to provide sales forecasts by style and channel to support inventory planning. Closely align throughout the month on in-season performance to manage the impact of any variation to original forecast
Collaborate with marketing to develop effective key account and specialty in-store support as well as support at trade shows or events
Develop strong, long-lasting relationships with our wholesale partners, coordinating strategic top to tops to fully understand their business objectives and drive optimal results for Rhone and its partners
Closely monitor wholesale weekly selling, sell-thru, and inventory KPIs, proactively driving growth opportunities and managing risks
Lead weekly sales and order book performance meetings with the sales and operations teams to ensure targets are achieved and all operational dependencies are managed
Prepare and present business results to functional partners
Contribute positively to the sales team culture by leading and developing account executives and coordinators. Support account executives in achieving individual sales goals
Monitor and understand industry-specific trends and landscapes; identify forces that shift strategic directions
In collaboration with CGO, prepare deck materials for quarterly board meetings
What you’ll bring:
8+ years of wholesale experience, ideally in sportswear and active lifestyle - women’s experience required
Hands-on approach with a high sense of urgency, results, and accountability.
Strong business acumen - analytical and critical thinking with a solution orientation.
Full knowledge and understanding of Retail math, Open to Buy and a full working Wholesale P&L
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to successfully navigate competing priorities
The ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees and teams with a proven track record of results
Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills
Proficient computer skills as well as the ability to learn new software programs
Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule.
