About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented AP and Inventory Cost Accounting Specialist to join our finance team at Rhone in Stamford CT. As an AP and Inventory Cost Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the accounts payable process, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory cost records. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of accounting principles, especially as they relate to inventory and cost accounting.


What you’ll do:

  • Manage the accounts payable process, including reviewing and verifying invoices, ensuring proper coding and approval, and processing payments in a timely manner.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.

  • Perform triple matching of inventory receipts to warehouse to PO

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory cost records, including cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation, in compliance with GAAP and company policies.

  • Review and analyze inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and scrap, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances related to inventory and cost of goods sold.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, receiving, and production, to ensure accurate inventory costing and proper accounting treatment for inventory-related transactions.

  • Provide support for external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries related to accounts payable and inventory cost accounting.

  • Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to accounts payable and inventory cost accounting, and provide recommendations for process improvements and efficiencies.

  • Assist with other ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the finance management team.


What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable and inventory cost accounting, preferably in the retail or apparel industry.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, especially related to inventory and cost accounting, and familiarity with GAAP.

  • Proficiency in using accounting software, such as ERP systems (NetSuite a plus) and Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in priorities and work well under pressure.
