About the Role:
As our company grows, our finance team is growing too! We’re looking for a strong senior accountant focused on inventory to join our tightly knit team in Stamford, CT. The Senior Accountant is an ‘athlete’ who thrives in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. As an integral part of our “FiOps” (Finance and Operations) team, you will support both day-today, month end close and long-term projects across all inventory locations including (but not limited to) warehouse (3PL), Retail, and Amazon FBA warehouses. This person will not only have strong general accounting knowledge and skills, but also be comfortable acting as a ‘conductor’ ensuring the trains, planes, and automobiles that make Rhone run behind the scenes operate on time and without issue, and you’ll be ready to step in to create and deliver solutions when things don’t go 100% as planned.
What you’ll do:
Perform month/quarter/year-end financial close activities including execution of reconciliations for all inventory across multiple locations.
Own the preparation of recurring reports including a daily sync report between warehouse (3PL), retail, and Amazon inventory and host system (ERP), research and remedy discrepancies and identify root causes.
Calculate and adjust the reserve for obsolete or aged inventory on a quarterly basis as part of the month end close process.
Research and apply GAAP rules in accounting for inventory costing and adjustments.
Host a monthly inventory review meeting with key stakeholders to discuss and troubleshoot for variance reductions and solutioning obsolete inventory.
Develop, implement and monitor key inventory functions through reporting and metrics involving inventory within the host system (ERP) and the 3rd party warehouse.
Reconcile and process all inventory discrepancies/adjustments from cycle counts, book to book system comparisons, overages, shortages, returns and damages on a daily basis and notify all appropriate contacts.
Project lead the yearly Physical Inventory on site counts at 3PL and stores by enlisting volunteers, working with location leads, and coordinating adjustments needed in the host system (ERP).
Participate in activities related to the proper costing, cost analysis and calculations.
Learn and become an expert on the warehouse management system (WMS) as related to configuration, capability and tools available for inventory management.
Develop and promote standardization and documentation of best processes.
Demonstrate expertise in the cause and effect of inventory transactions to ensure fulfillment of customer orders and store transfers.
Work cross functionally with internal and external teams by taking the lead on all special projects and day to day activities related to inventory control.
Assist with the year end audit by providing all inventory related documentation and coordinating on site inventory counts with the auditors.
What you’ll bring:
3+ years professional accounting experience (inventory experience required)
Apparel or similar CSG experience preferred
You are computer savvy, Excel proficient, data minded with the ability to communicate openly and easily
Fundamental understanding of financial statements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems required (NetSuite preferred)
You are a self-starter capable of operating semi-autonomously but always collaboratively
You are a team player who is not afraid to take on additional assignments that appear above or beneath you
You have strong interpersonal communication skills, particularly in delivering data-driven insights
You can prioritize, structure, and manage complex cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
Available during weekends and nights during peak promotional periods
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent field
