PURPOSE

The Quality and Clinical Systems Analyst assists primary care practices in EHR data extraction and improving EHR configuration to better align with processes related to improving quality measures. This role will work closely with quality improvement coaches to assist clinics with technical and data-related EHR needs to close care gaps and improve HEDIS/MCAS measure performance. This position requires strong knowledge of EHR data structures (for at least one major EHR), EHR data extraction, data extraction tools and methods, quality measure data capture and reporting, and data quality and analytics platforms such as Cozeva and Azara.

KEY Position Functions

  • Works with primary care practices to implement and support the integration of the EHR with Cozeva for care gap closure and quality reporting.
  • Uses queries to extract raw data from client EHRs and populate health plan provided templates.
  • Investigates problems with SNOMED, CPT Codes, HCPCS, CPT II codes, ICD Codes, vitals, and completed orders.
  • Collects, summarizes, and trends clinic performance data to report on performance and identify improvement strategies at the individual practice level and among provider cohorts.
  • Provides technical support to enhance supplemental data submission.
  • Interpret and program quality measures in accordance with metric logic specifications and build code table functions based on practice requirements.
  • Assists practices in implementing CDSS in the EHR.
  • Assist clinical teams with proper EHR documentation and coding
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, SKILLS, and Abilities

Data and Data Quality

  • Responsible for EHR data management.
  • Extracting raw data from the EHR.
  • Provide reports, data, and process recommendations to facilitate business decision-making that will positively impact net income, efficiency, and quality of care.
  • Proficiency in data extraction and analysis tools and data mining from at least one EHR systems using SQL-based reporting tools such as SSRS and Cognos.
  • Experience in electronic medical records, data analytics, data visualization, population health management, quality improvement, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Familiarity with data and technical strategies to close care gaps.
  • Experience complying with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); confidentiality with clinical, management, and other organizational data/information privacy and security protocols.

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Engage in activities to understand IT and clinic support needs and motivate change.
  • Participates in quality measurement, population health management, HEDIS measure improvement, and P4P program initiatives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships and achieve results by working collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to meet mission-critical deadlines and to motivate staff to meet these deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and address barriers to quality healthcare and/or gaps in process that interfere with delivery of quality healthcare.

Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in EHR data extraction.
  • At three years of experience in data analysis and quality improvement.
  • Technical database experience in at least one Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (Epic, AthenaOne, NextGen, eClinical Works, Office Ally, All Scripts, Cerner)
  • Cozeva experience, strongly preferred
  • Experience with additional population health and analytics software (Excel, Tableau, Cozeva, Azara)
  • Mastery of common programming languages (SQL, SAS, Python, etc.)
  • Experience in FQHCs, and/or Medi-Cal preferred

 

classification, Benefits, & Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position. Candidates must be authorized to work for any US employer. Ideally the Quality and Clinical Systems Analyst is California based, but candidates in other Pacific Time Zone locations will be considered. Elevation Health Partners supports a work-from-home arrangement, subject to client and/or project needs.

 

Elevation Health Partners offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan, commuter benefits, home office expense stipend, vacation, sick time, and paid holidays.

 

The role corresponds to a level with an annual salary of $100,000-$130,000 depending on the candidate's education and years of experience.
