Higher Purpose Co. (HPC) is a 501c3 nonprofit economic justice agency based in Clarksdale, Mississippi, created in 2016 by local Black residents. HPC’s mission is to build community wealth across Mississippi with Black residents by supporting the ownership of financial, cultural, and political power. The HUB Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact for any business related to the HUB, Civil Rights Museum, and AirBnB Units. They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HUB operations, including mail pick up, security system, and AirBnB units. The position includes both business-side administrative tasks requiring ease with technology as well as community outreach and engagement tasks requiring strong communications skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about engaging with the residents of Clarksdale and Mississippi. We are looking for applicants who can work independently, are excited and willing to initiate projects and build community, and have a vision for personal growth in this position. We anticipate opportunities for the person in this position to grow with the organization.
Responsibilities
Communicating with clients or HPC staff about projects, events or campaign expectations and goals regarding the HUB;
Checking mail twice a week;
Ensure that the alarm system is working properly & meet with alarm company as needed;
Conducts team briefing and documents minutes of the meeting;
Collaborating and attend monthly meetings with clients or employers, finance teams, and other team members on budgeting and allocating funds for the HUB;
Delegating tasks to appropriate team members;
Managing deadlines and progress across the team to ensure the HUB projects are delivered on time and within budget;
Overseeing the delivery of projects and making adjustments as necessary to ensure they are delivered to specifications and high standards;
Overseeing construction projects and available to report to the HUB within business hours for projects, meetings, etc.
Staying up to date with contractors to ensure that the HUB is presentable inside and outside by making sure floors and windows are cleaned, AirBnB units are cleaned and sanitized, etc.
Complete all other assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
Must be a Mississippi resident located in Coahoma County
College degree in field appropriate to assignments;
Minimum of 2 years of paid or volunteer experience;
Reliable transportation and must possess a valid Driver’s license;
Good written and communication skills;
Open-minded, entrepreneurial, and willing to learn from others;
Adaptable, a good sense of humor, with entrepreneurship/business ownership experience;
Able to work independently yet be a team player and goal-oriented. Must be a strong collaborator within and outside of the organization;
Community engagement as well as experience in leading content management of website, social media platforms, and other marketing channels by keeping it current and engaging;
Proficient with the Google Suite of applications (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc...) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Ability to produce high-quality work under pressure while also meeting deadlines;
Detail-oriented self-starter with positive energy;
Passionate about the mission of the HPC and brings humility and a deep commitment to philanthropy and empathy for our end-clients.
Physical Requirements
Have the ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Ability to lift and carry 20-30 pounds occasionally
Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly in person and over the phone
Compensation and Benefits:
This full-time exempt position. The salary is $40,000 with a competitive benefits package that includes 100% of medical, dental & vision paid for by HPC, long-term disability coverage, flexible paid time off, $500 professional development stipend, 401K with up to 3% company match, a flexible work schedule including working remotely, 14 paid holidays, four weeks of self-care PTO and an annual retreat.
