Social Media Coordinator 

Full-Time Position

Reports to: Director Branding, Storytelling, and Advocacy 

Location: Remote and In-Person, 130 Desoto Ave. Suite 10  Clarksdale, MS 38614

Higher Purpose Co. (HPC) is a 501c3 nonprofit economic justice agency based in Clarksdale, Mississippi, created in 2016 by local Black residents.  HPC’s mission is to build community wealth across Mississippi with Black residents by supporting the ownership of financial, cultural, and political power. Our work focuses on Black entrepreneurs, farmers, and artists across Mississippi. We are growing our team to enhance our statewide presence and impact. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Branding, Storytelling, and Advocacy. Primary responsibilities include developing and creating professional digital content to support Higher Purpose Co's overall mission and brand. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Build HPC’s membership and supporters through digital advertising, organic social media, texting, and other digital tools.

  • Cultivating community within Facebook groups and exploring new social media platforms and features 

  • Create compelling graphics and videos for social posts, online ads, email blasts, etc.

  • Test, set up, and train staff/supporters to use texting, relational organizing, online advocacy, and other software tools for organizing.

  • Manage data and tracking systems in collaboration with HPC staff

  • Work with the HPC team to help members and supporters share their stories through videos, images, writing, press interviews, storytelling training, etc.

  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to other mission-aligned partners and community members, helping them use technology and online outreach to further organizing goals.

  • Engage “mission ambassadors” – to be active and amplify the HPC mission

  • Create, schedule, and respond to posts on HPC social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, YouTube).

  • Edit and upload information on web pages.

  • Formulate and implement digital strategy and social media plans.

  • Track the growth and impact of social media on HPC.  

  • Support HPC staff with social media, tech, innovation tasks

  • Create campaign reports, monthly and quarterly summary reports.

  • Track and monitor campaigns and deliverables.

  • Assist with Google ad integration and consultants.

  • Attend HPC meetings, programs, and events as required.

  • All other duties as required

Education and/or Work Requirements:

  • Mississippi resident or be willing to relocate

  • College degree in field appropriate to assignment 

  • Minimum of 2 years of paid or volunteer experience

  • Reliable transportation, and you must possess a valid Driver’s license

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Social media savvy 

  • Project management skills

  • Community organizing and engagement experience

  • Experience creating compelling graphics and videos for social media using Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.

  • Proficient with the Google Suite of applications (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc...) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products under deadlines

  • Some experience or knowledge of non-profits is a plus

  • Detail-oriented self-starter with positive energy

  • Knowledge of CRM/Texting platforms such as MailChimp and Hustle

Physical Requirements:

  • Have the ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.

  • Ability to lift and carry 20-30 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to talk, type, listen, and speak clearly in person, via Zoom, Facebook Live,  and over the phone

Compensation & Benefits:

This full-time, exempt position. The salary is $40,000 with a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability coverage, flexible paid time off, $500 professional development stipend, 401K with up to 3% company match, a flexible work schedule including working remotely, 13 paid holidays, four weeks of self-care PTO and an annual retreat.
