DSD Renewables (DSD) seeks a Senior Director of Project Execution to join its growing Developer Network (DevNet) team.  

 

DSD is a distributed energy solutions provider, and we are on a mission to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. To support this mission, DSD launched its Developer Network channel through which we provide PPA and Lease financing to channel partners (DevNet Members) and their customers. These DevNet Members originate, develop and construct C+I projects to DSD’s specifications and the Senior Director of Project Execution is responsible for leading the team that oversees the development and construction phase of these projects. A successful Director of Project Execution will serve as a both an individual contributor and a pivotal team leader leveraging their Project Development and Project Management expertise to support an internal team of Project Managers and their execution efforts with our DevNet Members.  

 

The Senior Director of Project Execution, Developer Network will create and cultivate shoulder-to-shoulder relationships with our DevNet Members.  They will be responsible for negotiating Development-EPC Agreements directly with new Members and serve as a resource to educate new Members on how to build successful projects with DSD. In addition, they will manage our internal Project Management team who work hand-in-hand with our Members post-contract execution to review development and construction deliverables, uphold project schedules, and build stellar projects. 

 

The ideal candidate for this role will be both commercially and operationally minded. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be both a self-starter and highly collaborative. They will have exceptional communication skills, acute attention to detail, and be well versed in communicating, operating and interacting with subcontractors, in this case DevNet Members, through online platforms. They will possess a strong desire to help the broader DevNet team continue the build out and optimize that platform to achieve our mission and to help our DevNet Members grow their businesses.   

 

Most importantly, they will have a desire to bring their past development and project management expertise to the team and apply it in a new way - acting in an advisory role to help progress the Developer Network channel and its goals. This position will report to the VP of DSD’s Developer Network. 

 

Essential Responsibilities: As the Senior Direct of Project Execution you will manage project development and construction bringing your expertise to excel at following responsibilities: 

 

  • Negotiate and execute Development-EPC Contracts with DevNet Members including vetting project schedules and SOVs for contracting.  

  • Educate DevNet Members on project execution expectations including development, engineering and construction specifications and achieving project milestones.  

  • Lead Project Management team through development and construction phases of DevNet projects by hosting regular team meetings, ensuring DevNet Members are meeting contractual project milestone requirements and tracking critical dates. 

  • Join project calls as needed to help support PMs and Members including having tough conversations when necessary. 

  • Work with cash and structured finance teams to ensure projects move through funding smoothly including holding PM team responsible for keeping system dates accurate.   

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure successful project execution including with Legal, Project Engineering, Account Executive, and Asset Operation teams.   

  • Evaluate, communicate, and participate in continuous operational improvements for the business unit working closely with Director of Operations, Director of Project Engineering and VP of DevNet to improve procedures surrounding Member onboarding and vetting, project feasibility, development, construction oversight and closeout.  

  • Assist DevNet Account Executive team with early-stage project feasibility questions that might jeopardize or otherwise impact project execution including reviewing desktop diligence reports and determining if any development red flags exist. 

  • Provide recommendations to mitigate DSD risk pre-contract, throughout development and in construction as needed.  

  • Provide guidance to Project Execution team collecting and interpreting due diligence reports and deliverables including identifying development pathways, and initiate creative solutions in support of our DevNet Members to overcome development hurdles as they occur.  

  • Field questions from internal and external project stakeholders and provide subject matter expertise to navigate project execution, including responding to questions from funding partners as they arise.  

  • Maintain outstanding, positive working relationships with internal and external teammates and DevNet Members.  

  • Evaluate staffing needs, interview and hire team members as needed. 

 

Required Qualifications/ Characteristics 

  • Direct experience  C+I solar experience in Project Development or Project Management across a wide variety of markets, project types and sizes 

  • EPCA or similar contract negotiation experience 

  • Experience using and managing projects in Salesforce  

  • Experience building programs and teams 

  • Innate internal drive for success and ability to work remotely 

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to articulately present information to internal leadership and external partners  

  • High level of attention to detail and desire to provide project detail to others 

  • Empathetic and servant leadership mentality  

  • Ability to travel occasionally for team meetings and events 

  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 proficiency 

 

Desired Qualifications  

  • PMP certification  

  • Direct construction field experience 

  • General PPA, Site Lease contract structure knowledge and experience  

  • General solar project finance and cash management and forecasting knowledge and experience  

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Renewables, Planning, Construction Management or related field with applicable experience, or equivalent
