DSD Renewables is looking for a Vice President of Origination for its Energy Solutions – Direct vertical. DSD is a distributed energy solutions provider, and we are on a mission to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. The ideal candidate excels working in a fast paced, distributed environment; is detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working collaboratively across different teams.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Your prime responsibility will be leading and managing the Direct Origination team to meeting and exceeding DSD’s monthly, quarterly, and annual opportunity award and contract goals.

 

You will be responsible for developing and executing a business development strategy that maximizes DSD’s ability to provide valuable solutions to customers’ energy challenges utilizing on and off-site solar energy and associated technologies like battery storage and EV charging. You will have the opportunity to lead DSD’s internal project analyst, proposal writing, engineering, development, legal, financing, and construction teams to craft these customer focused solutions and make them a reality.

 

As VP of DSD’s Energy Solutions – Direct team you will:

  • Be able to succinctly explain the full technological approach and development process provided by DSD and its partners, and the economic, strategic, and environmental value created by DSD’s solutions
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual renewable energy technology backlog goals. Those include new opportunities originated, awarded opportunities, and contracted opportunities.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies based on regions, incentive markets, or industries, working closely with the Markets Team to determine and prioritize market opportunities.
  • Work with team members to craft and execute quarterly sales campaigns – coordination will be needed with inside sales, internal/external marketing teams, and other DSD functions to ensure annual KPIs are met. This includes regular feedback mechanisms to continually optimize campaign strategy and execution.
  • Work with the team, both inside and outside sales, on all general required origination activities including sales prospecting, qualifying leads, proposals, presentations, networking, relationship building, partnering, and account management. Utilize Brand Management teams’ templates and resources to ensure consistent and exceptional customer experience.
  • Ensure new opportunities fit DSD Renewables’ overall strategy and qualifying project requirements
  • Manage Direct Pipeline, ensure that all data projections are made with proper forecasting, input data accuracy is maintained on a weekly basis, and generate reports as needed for management and executive teams.
  • Help generate and assist RFP opportunities, working with DSD’s dedicated Proposal Team to help structure responses, direct and prepare internal response team for shortlist interviews, follow up with customers and consultants after response, and post-mortem documentation. Responses will include affiliated responses with DSD Authorized Development partners.
  • Engage and team with other functional managers to help drive value for customers, maintain project milestones, work through challenges, adjust process, and push new internal and external initiatives
  • Work with management and executive teams on new strategic initiatives, projects, and customer solution offerings
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state clean energy regulations and incentives, solar economic market trends, customer requirements, competitor behavior, and customer base
  • Keep a pulse on customer experience, leveraging data from Voice of the Customer surveys to drive internal change for improvements and hold teams accountable

 

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in energy markets, pricing, and how electricity costs are incurred by facilities and customers
  • Experience in C&I Solar Energy Project Sales or Project Development with verifiable success (applications must include deal book )
  • Experience managing a successful C&I sales or origination team
  • Understanding of solar project development and construction
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in commercial energy contracting, including Power Purchase Agreements, Site Leases, Land Options, and others
  • Knowledgeable in Energy Storage commercial benefits, modeling, and contracting
  • Experience with, and ability to manage, complex financial models
  • Familiarity with Project Pitchbook or similar Investment Committee presentations.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple high priority demands and deadlines
  • Exceptional project and system management skills
  • Highly skilled at empathizing with and advocating for colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of business and financial concepts.
  • Ability to be a team player and assist colleagues when needed.
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and driven with a desire to advance career

 

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with Salesforce CRM or similar CRM.
  • Robust analytical skill set, including proficiency in Excel modeling.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university in business, finance, engineering, or related field
  • Master’s or MBA preferred

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25% of the time, however requirement may increase based upon business need

 

 

Location: Remote. DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, San Francisco, or Los Angeles area based preferred
