Seeking a driven hardworking professional to join the accounting team as an assistant controller. The assistant controller will be primarily responsible for overseeing month-end closing procedures, creation, and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, and oversight of various process and system improvements. The role will also play a key role in the implementation of new accounting standards and the documentation of accounting policies. The Assistant Controller will be a demonstrated self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, completeness, and accuracy of all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including status updates with the accounting team and Controller.
- Manage and lead day to day roles and responsibilities of various members of the accounting team.
- Oversee creation of consolidated and standalone financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually in accordance with US GAAP. Analyze comparative Balance Sheet and P&L reports, identifying and documenting variances.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly with detailed review procedures performed over the account analysis. Review key estimates on a quarterly basis such as inventory and guarantees.
- Drive a continuous improvement approach to develop strategies that improve accounting operations efficiencies, effectiveness, and scalability, including the development and execution of policy, process, and system automations.
- Engage with third party tax team to continue build out of sales and property tax compliance procedures and monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
- Assist with completion of financial statement audits for the company and its subsidiaries.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA required
- Experience, including both public accounting and private company experience.
- Deep background in renewable energy financing structures or financial services.
- Demonstrated expertise in FASB/GAAP
