Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) seeks a Commercial Analyst II to join its growing team. DSD develops “C&I” solar, storage, and electric vehicle charging projects with municipalities, F500 companies, and utilities. This role will work cooperatively with DSD’s origination team to achieve sales goals for the business.
Position Overview
Are you passionate about renewable energy and looking to kickstart your career in the industry? DSD Renewables is seeking a motivated and dedicated Commercial Analyst I to join our dynamic team. As a Commercial Analyst I, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the origination of solar, solar-plus-storage, and electric vehicle charging projects across the United States. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth, hands-on training, and exposure to various facets of the renewable energy business.
As a member of the Commercial Analyst team, you will help lead projects from concept to contract and remain involved throughout the development cycle, building fundamental skills in solar analytics, financial modeling, design and engineering, pricing strategy, and federal and state-level renewables policy. Longer term, through the team’s Analyst Growth Program, you will receive training and support to grow into future leaders at DSD. In addition to robust training during your onboarding period, the program provides career planning support and the opportunity to work on strategic initiatives tailored to your interests, allowing you to build expertise and interface with other DSD functions in a unique way. The goal of the Program is to help analysts explore their career interests, develop and work toward professional goals, and grow their professional network.
Responsibilities
· Collaborate with the Commercial Sales team to develop high-value proposals for enterprise and public sector customers.
· Conduct financial modeling for projects, assisting in their analysis from inception to contract signing.
· Evaluate project size and configuration options, considering factors such as energy yield, cost, and incentives to optimize project design.
· Perform rate analysis using customer data to communicate the project's value proposition effectively.
· Research incentives, utility policies, tariffs, local requirements, taxes, and other project-related inputs across a diverse range of U.S. markets.
· Conduct competitive analysis to help determine winning bid strategies.
· Work closely with Structured Finance to craft competitive proposals and meet financing requirements.
· Facilitate communication between Sales, Development Engineering, and Structured Finance to streamline project development.
· Contribute to the development of tools and processes to enhance project development efficiency.
· Participate in site visits, engage with customers and partners, and present findings to DSD executives.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Desired Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in finance/business, economics, engineering, science, math, or related fields. An educational background in renewable energy or sustainability is a plus.
· Basic financial modeling skills, including proficiency in MS Excel.
