Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) seeks a Project Development Manager (PDM) to join its growing team.  DSD develops “C&I” solar and solar plus storage projects with municipalities, F500 companies, and utilities.  In addition to greenfield development work, DSD has a growing Developer Network team which provides regional and national development and EPC firms with access to project financing, long-term asset ownership capabilities, and other top-tier resources. The PDM will serve in an advisory role to our regional partners and be essential to growing this key business strategy; enabling external partners to successfully develop and build projects to be added to DSD’s operating portfolio. This position will execute the Developer Network’s project development strategy and help create new tools, processes, and solutions to help our partners grow their own businesses. The ideal professional works well in a remote environment, has strong communication and coordination skills, and is able to work closely and efficiently in a cross-functional team environment—with the goal of identifying project risks, overcoming obstacles, and driving Developer Network projects to NTP. Prior hands-on, similar work experience is required, including having conducted detailed analysis of asset risks and C&I project development. 

 


Role Summary/Purpose  

The PDM will lead all development aspects of the Developer Network projects and provide guidance and direction to the Development Partners during this phase of the project lifecycle. The PDM will guide the Developer Network partners to execute project development with a focus on reviewing development deliverables, assisting with technical site development, and empowering our partners to achieve NTP on-time and on-budget.  This position will report to the Director of Development, Developer Network and work closely with the Developer Network team, including account executives, project engineers, and construction project managers. 

 


Remote working as an option with availability to travel as needed. 

 


Essential Responsibilities  

As a PDM, you will manage the development stage of commercial solar projects with a focus on the following aspects: 

 

·       Aid in the development of and deploy new strategies, tools, and processes to enable development and EPC partners to successfully achieve NTP. 

·       Serve as a reviewer of each partner’s development deliverables, including surveys, interconnection, Phase 1 ESAs, Geotech, environmental analyses, civil design, permits, and other work as needed. 

·       Advise our partners in the development process to meet DSD’s finance and good development standards.  

·       Work with and drive legal counsel to complete title search reviews, identify encumbrances, manage survey deliverables, drive property clearance for the project.  

·       Work closely with account executives, project engineering, interconnection specialists, construction project managers, and project finance to drive development activities forward. 

  • Once development is complete, provide stamp of approval to issue project NTP and place into DSD financing.  

·       Attend customer meetings and site visits as needed. 

 


Qualifications/Requirements/Desired Characteristics  

·       Exceptional Communication Skills 

·       Project management or development experience in the commercial solar, construction or real estate industries.   

·       Strong project management experience 

·       Ability to work remotely and independently and be a self-starter 

·       High level of project development knowledge including real estate, interconnection, revenue programs, siting diligence, and permitting 

·       Ability to travel as needed 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Natural Resources, Planning, or Construction Management or related field or equivalent. 

·       Experience managing civil engineers, permitting expeditors, permitting attorney, and other contractors necessary for the site plan, zoning board, and county approval processes. 

·       Demonstrated skills in project software (e.g., Procore, Salesforce, etc.) 

·       Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint 

·       Project management or other experience in power generation industries 

·       Experience dealing with federal, state, and local agencies for various permits and entitlements   

·       Financial forecasting and project scheduling experience
