DSD (Distributed Solar Development) is a renewable energy development company focused on changing the calculus for energy consumers that want to own their clean energy supply. We engineer and operate onsite solar and battery storage systems for Fortune 500 brands, municipalities and provide community distributed generation solar to thousands of subscribers across the country.
We are primarily an infrastructure financing company, our deals are complex, requiring multiple sources of capital and structuring. We see the multitude of financial, engineering and customer load data as being incredibly valuable. Building clean energy infrastructure is difficult, and our experience is pushing us to develop software solutions. These solutions must create efficiencies in our operational and transaction processes in a relentless drive to lower the cost of clean energy for our customers. We must optimize the efficacy of our processes to reach the scale and growth needed to positively impact climate change.
In this pursuit, we are building a team of data analysts and developers to design and build scalable systems with the goal of enabling DSD to finance, develop, and operate more projects. This role will be one of the founding members having influence on the team vision, direction, and mission while also writing code and producing analyses.
Responsibilities
· Learn and understand our business processes to generate insights and present recommendations from existing and future data sources.
· Translate business questions into technical requirements, determine and develop the appropriate methods to deliver measurable business improvements across the organization.
· Perform advanced quantitative and statistical analysis of operating data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can be used to improve business performance.
· Build and manage data pipelines for operational, financial, and project data. These data sources will be used in existing and future applications and data analysis projects.
· Develop internal and customer-facing products that incorporate operational, financial, and project data to present insights.
Qualifications
· Experience with building data pipelines
· Experience with web application frameworks (i.e., Django)
· Basic understanding of databases and crafting SQL queries
· Ability to write code and develop production-ready analytical applications
· Desire to work in a closely knit team, on some of the most interesting and important challenges of our time
· Open to remote, but prefer to be based in New York City
