DSD has built a backlog of more than 1GW, and the Structured Finance team evaluates significant throughput to secure these assets. In 2022 to date, the Structured Finance team has evaluated 2GW+ of solar and solar + storage projects.  This team plays a critical role in using market intelligence, research and in house subject matter experts to risk price assets in order to expand the pipeline that will convert into assets under management.

 

The Associate – Structured Finance will work with the Origination team on day-to-day underwriting on solar and solar + battery energy storage projects to support achieving business level goals. The Associate will work with members of the Structured Finance and Origination team on a day-to-day basis with a focus on M&A and related Origination efforts. These projects can be large and competitive, and the right candidate will have attention to detail, a risk-focused lens, and a commercial perspective.

 


Responsibilities

·      Manage all volume from M&A and greenfield development efforts, including economic analysis, competitive research, and high-level structuring terms for advanced-stage projects

·       Build, develop and maintain financial models and various economic analyses to support solar and solar + battery energy storage projects across design/build development, M&A, greenfield, and other customer acquisition strategies

·       Execute diligence in support of M&A - including reviewing datarooms, contracts, site leases, and other documentation - and validate that project structures communicated from Sellers are represented in project documentation for utility and community solar projects

·       Develop knowledge of existing and new utility programs or business models, define and incorporate underlying assumptions into business planning for customer-facing opportunities or M&A

·       Leverage internal resources and personnel to uncover value creation across new prospective opportunities

·      Lead Underwriting diligence for opportunities once in exclusivity or upon project award

·      Manage analyst(s) day to day

     


Basic Qualifications

·       Experience in project finance

·       Motivated self-starter with excellent work ethic

·       Experience in transaction execution and transaction diligence, including exposure to contract negotiation

·       Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and/or experience at a project finance bank or developer

·       Programming experience a plus
