Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) seeks a Senior Technician to join its growing team. DSD develops “C&I” solar and solar plus storage projects with municipalities, F500 companies, and utilities. This role will work cooperatively with a cross functional team to operational goals for the business.
Position Introduction
Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) is seeking to fill the role of Senior technician to join our industry leading team. In this role, you will work Directly and cross-functionally with Suppliers, Construction and Engineering, to manage the Operation and Maintenance of our internal and external assets.
The Senior technician role provides a great opportunity for your career in the solar industry. As we build out our portfolio of Assets in the upcoming year, the need to manage and Optimize the technical Performance of our solar assets will be critical to our success
What makes a great Senior Technician?
· O&M experience with commercial solar projects
o Understanding of PV solar production, experience working with operational solar plants. Experience with construction management regarding internal engineering compliance, safety, NEC compliance and detail-oriented quality control on canopy, rooftop, tracker and fixed tilt ground mount systems.
· Ability to operate
o Commercial PV inverters
§ String and Central
o Production meters, Protection Relays
o Rapid Shutdown Systems
o AC Switchgear
o Power Transformers
o Tracker Systems
o Data Acquisition Systems
· Read and interpret electrical Drawings
· Excellent communication and presentation skills in front of customers as well as strong interpersonal and coordination skills with internal team members
· Strong troubleshooting skills
Required Qualifications
· Technical Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electricity, electronics or a related field
· Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) as it relates to PV Plants
· Safety practices and knowledge of NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements including LOTO, Arc Flash, etc.
· Strong electrical, electronic, communications and mechanical troubleshooting skills required for working with equipment found in commercial and utility PV plants
· Must have a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
· At least 5-years’ work experience in the renewable energy field
· At least 5-years’ field experience as an electrical technician
Desired Qualifications
· Multiple years of Solar Technician (Commercial industrial) experience
· 7-years’ or more work experience in the renewable energy field
· 7-years’ or more field experience as an electrical technician
· Experience with SEL/ Cooper protection relays
· Experience with MV troubleshooting and maintenance
· Familiarity with Also energy monitoring
· Experience with Solar + storage projects
· Familiarity with remote String inverter platforms (SMA)
· Experience with tracker systems
Southern California area preferred.
