Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) seeks a Senior Project Development Manager (Sr. PDM) to join its growing team. DSD develops “C&I” solar and solar plus storage projects with municipalities, F500 companies, and utilities. In addition to greenfield development work, DSD recently launched its Development Network team to provide regional development and EPC firms with access to project financing, long-term asset ownership capabilities, and other top-tier resources.
The Sr. PDM will play an integral role in expanding this business and enabling external partners to successfully develop and build projects to be added to DSD’s operating portfolio. This position will lead the Developer Network’s project development strategy and create new tools, processes, and solutions to help our partners grow their own businesses. The ideal professional works well in a remote environment and is able to work closely and efficiently in a cross-functional team environment—with the goal of evaluating project viability and driving Developer Network projects to NTP. Prior hands-on, similar work experience is required, including having conducted detailed analysis of asset risks and C&I project development.
Role Summary/Purpose
The Sr. PDM will assist Developer Network partners and projects during the development phase of the asset. The Sr. PDM will execute project development with a focus on non-ministerial permitting, technical site development, and empowering our partners to achieve NTP on-time and on-budget. This position will report to the Vice-President of Project Development and work closely with the Developer Network team

Essential Responsibilities
As the Sr. PDM, you will manage the development stage for the design and eventual construction of commercial solar projects with a focus on the following aspects:
- Create and deploy new strategies, tools, and processes to enable regional development and EPC partners to successfully achieve NTP.
- Serve as a “light touch” overseer of each partner’s development deliverables, including surveys, interconnection, Phase 1 ESAs, Geotech, environmental analysis, civil design, and other work as needed.
- Support our partners’ meetings with the AHJ for permitting activities and identify permitting path requirements.
- Provide guidance on zoning and permitting requirements and bylaws and work with internal and external engineering to design a layout to meet these requirements.
- Work with and drive legal counsel to Identify easements, complete title searches and any associated activities required to build the project and complete interconnection
- Order title searches, insurance policies, and reviews for all “fund” projects.
- Work with Sales, Engineering and Project Finance and host customer as needed to drive development activities forward.
- Attend customer meetings and site visits as needed.
- Manage the project development budget and request spend as needed. Collaborate with the Construction PM to ensure seamless handoffs and consistent customer experiences. Assist in the project design process with internal and external engineering resources to provide construction ready drawings to the Construction PM.
- Lead PM function during development phase until the project is handed over to the Construction PM.
Qualifications/Requirements/Desired Characteristics
- Exceptional Communication Skills
- Project management or development experience in the solar, construction or real estate industries.
- Ability to work remotely and independently and be a self-starter
- General Construction experience
- High level of project construction knowledge and subcontractor relationships
- Ability to travel
- Ability to present articulately in front of non-ministerial boards
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Natural Resources, Planning, or Construction Management or related field with 10 years of experience or equivalent.
- Experience managing civil engineers, permitting expeditors, permitting attorney, and other contractors necessary for the site plan, zoning board, and county approval processes. General real-estate development knowledge
- Demonstrated skills in project planning software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheets, etc.)
- Demonstrated computer skills, including Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Project management or other experience in power generation industries
- Experience dealing with federal, state and local agencies for various permits and entitlements
- Financial forecasting and project scheduling experience
