Manager, Asset Acquisition

 

Introduction

Distributed Solar Development, LLC (DSD) seeks a Manager of Asset Acquisitions to join its growing team.  DSD develops “C&I” solar and solar plus storage projects with municipalities, F500 companies, and utilities.  In addition to greenfield development work, DSD is starting an Asset Acquisitions team to take advantage of its domain expertise and access to low cost institutional capital.  The Manager will be an integral part of building the asset acquisition business. The ideal professional can work well in a remote environment and will be able to work closely and efficiently in a cross-functional team environment with the goal of driving the closing process for asset acquisitions. Prior similar work experience is required including having conducted detailed analysis of asset risks and leading resolutions required for a successful closing.

 

 

Responsibilities

The DSD Manager of Asset Acquisitions, will be a senior member of the team who’s focus will be on completing all aspects associated with the acquisitions of C&I solar projects.  This includes assisting the originations team in early stage opportunity evaluation and structuring, reviewing and advising the finance team on appropriate economic modeling, new market research, working with internal and external legal, engineering and technical support for due diligence, leading negotiation of purchase documentation, seeking internal transaction approvals and various ad hock tasks as required.  In addition, the Manager will be involved in setting process and procedures for the Asset Acquisitions business as well as being heavily involved in strategic decision making.  

 

As the DSD Manager, Asset Acquisitions, you will:

·       Report to the Vice President, Asset Acquisitions

·       Structure, negotiate and lead the acquisition of assets for DSD

·       Build rapport with and lead cross functional internal and external teams to support acquisition efforts

·       Maintain checklists, schedules and other items required to keep the transaction process organized and efficient

·       Assist in evaluating project viability and creatively structuring transactions such that they meet an appropriate risk profile for DSD

·       Develop influential relationships with target customers / suppliers at all levels, understand decision-making processes, and develop strategies to win profible business from those customers

·       Maintain knowledge of solar economic market trends, customer requirements, competitor actions, and customer base

·       Track inter-departmental deliverables and forecast transaction milestones dates to executive management

·       Perform related duties as required

 

Required Quals

·       Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university

·       8+ years of experience associated with solar or other power generation products in acquisitions, or project finance

·       Experience presenting to executive management teams

·       Experience with project due diligence

·       Willingness and ability to travel, as required

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Ability to analyze and modify complex project finance models and understand the impact of various key drivers

·       Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines and short turnarounds

·       Self-motivated and excited to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment
