Role Summary
The Sr. Project Engineer will have 5+ years in a PV design engineering role for commercial & industrial and small utility scale solar PV projects. The project engineer will be responsible for all project engineering activities of several concurrent projects from client commitment, design phase, construction and commissioning, and finally to handoff to O&M/Asset Management.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for creation of 30/60/90, Issued for Permit (IFP), and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing sets for permitting, specifying and quoting equipment, supervising the construction activities and resolving any issues that arise
- Specification of all project equipment along with timely management of submittals and requests for information (RFIs) during construction
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in various stages of construction at the same time
- Demonstrated ability to economically and efficiently solve design and construction issues in the field
- Ensures client focused execution of all engineering activities
- Create designs and solutions that optimize economics and production
Required Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Familiar with the National Electric Code and standard construction practices as they relate to the solar PV industry in the commercial and utility scale markets
- Deep knowledge of the solar industry design and installation standards roof-top, ground-mount and carport solar PV projects
- Familiarity with the solar project lifecycle
- Demonstrated experience designing C&I PV projects in various utility territories and permitting jurisdictions
- Experience specifying low and medium voltage electrical equipment typical for commercial and utility PV systems
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (power systems focus desired) or equivalent
- AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Qualifications
- Experience conducting arc-flash, arc-fault and coordination studies using ETAP or SKM
- Relay protection design and programming (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories)
- Experience specifying, installing and configuring PV monitoring systems
- Professional Engineer Licensure
- NABCEP PV Installer Certification
