Role Summary/Purpose: The Director of Development – M&A role leads distributed solar project acquisition efforts for East Coast territory on behalf of Distributed Solar Development (DSD).

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Target best regional/national developers who have high quality/financeable distributed solar assets for purchase

     

  • Clearly and efficiently communicate DSD’s value story to potential development partners and drive award closures

 

  • As part of the greater DSD team, leverage internal engineering, project management, legal and structured finance support to evaluate, sign and close distributed solar project acquisitions

 

  • Design a strategy based off existing and future DSD capabilities to only target high conversion rate opportunities with premier development partners


Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • Masters degree preferred

  • Minimum 7 years professional experience in PV industry

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to conduct “screening” level economics to quickly determine if potential project acquisition opportunities are within DSD strike zone

  • A deep understanding of the full distributed solar value stack; able to understand a developer partners strengths/weaknesses and how DSD can add value to them through acquisition

  • Ability to work in a flat environment, successfully achieving goals leveraging multiple colleagues expertise who are not direct reports 

  • Ability to go into detail on how those MWs were acquired, the process, the analysis, how it closed, the synergies between project parties, etc.

  • A deep rolodex of developer contacts within focused region, and a proven portfolio of MW acquired

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

  • Leadership experience with senior management team and customers

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a quickly growing business

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence decisions with third parties

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite including: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
