Role Summary/Purpose: The EHS Manager will create, execute and manage the EHS program and job site safety program for Distributed Solar Development (DSD). The candidate for this role will be a collaborative team player with exceptional communication skills, ability to understand sound safety policies within a highly competitive construction environment and can work autonomously and self-directed. This position will report to the Managing Director of Project Management.

Essential Responsibilities: As the EHS Manager, your duties will focus on EHS roll out with an eye toward project efficiency and industry construction practices. Your duties will focus on the following aspects:
- General – Portfolio-wide
- Review, evaluate and re-create existing EHS program to ensure EHS coverage for all construction, commissioning and operations and maintenance activities.
- Establish and maintain continuous training and certification for DSD employees on EHS program.
- Create standard project job hazard analysis (JHA) for all project types.
- Create mini-audit program for project managers to complete during site visits.
- Review, evaluate and create existing subcontractor EHS pre-qualification forms.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor safety program during onboarding process.
- Lead EHS program and adoption for Project Managers and lead onsite employees. Establish specifically what PM’s need filled out, documents to have on site, etc.
- Compile and manage safety logs for projects and company.
- Complete applications and maintenance for programs like Avetta.
- Work with OSHA, EPA, AHJ’s, Host Sites, Law Enforcement, etc. on all EHS aspects as needed.
- Work with project management and engineering to develop EHS best practices, mitigate potential future non-compliance or accidents, and create engineered onsite safety measures.
- Integrate EHS processes into customized software. Ability to create EHS program for efficient roll-out and full integration into PM software.
- Investigate causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job sites.
- Present EHS principals, establish EHS goals, and promote safety culture across the organization.
- Project Specific Focus
- Assess risk and safety for each project. Create site specific safety programs and JHA’s.
- Review, order and ensure proper safety documentation and material is present on site.
- Conduct EHS orientation at the outset of each project kick off meetings and reviews.
- Review counterpart EHS contract language and process, host site, client or other policies. Ensure all EHS requirements are included in subcontractor contracts, highlighted in trainings/kickoffs and ensure compliance onsite.
- Perform 1 – 2 EHS audits per site
- Review for site specific and general EHS compliance
- Review for general unsafe behavior or breaks in regulations
- Further assess risk and possible safety hazards of all aspects of operations
- Review and evaluate subcontractor EHS performance per project.
- Collate, audit and archive all site EHS documentation
Qualifications/Requirements/Desired Characteristics
EHS program management and establishment experience.
Preference will be given to those experienced in EHS as it relates to the construction of commercial and utility scale solar power projects.
Project management or development experience in the solar, construction or real estate industries.
Experience dealing with OHSA, EPA, federal, state and local agencies for various EHS issues and compliance.
Exceptional Communication Skills
Ability to work remotely and independently and be a self-starter
Project construction knowledge and subcontractor relationship experience
Ability to travel
Bachelors Degree in EHS, Engineering or Construction Management or related field with 5-10 years of experience or equivalent.
Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
EHS Experience or other experience in power generation industries
