Role Summary/Purpose: The QAQC Project Manager will lead all quality aspects of the project pre and post construction commencement and during the construction phase of all projects across the United States.  The QAQC Project Manager will work directly with the Project Managers and Project Engineers to complete the Distributed Solar Development’s (DSD’s) QAQC program in order to ensure that DSD’s assets are built to a high standard.  They will help develop and expand that program to ensure all of DSD’s assets are built with the highest quality with an attention to cost and schedule.  The candidate for this role will be a collaborative team player with exceptional communication skills and can work autonomously and self-directed. This position will report to the Managing Director of Project Management.

 

Essential Responsibilities: As the QAQC Project Manager, you will manage the develop and manage the QAQC program for DSD with a focus on the following aspects:

 

  • Implement, develop and expand DSD’s existing QAQC program.

  • Perform multiple audits/site visits to monitor the quality of the installation for all commercial projects across the US.

  • Work with engineers and PM’s to review submittals, drawings and RFI’s from subcontractors for project specific materials, value engineering and design.

  • Work with Subcontractors to monitor quality of all installation methods and ensure that installations are being complete according to DSD design, QAQC guidelines, technical specifications, host site specification’s, and industry and DSD standards.

  • Monitor QAQC of all civil, mechanical and electrical components of the installation (aside from mechanical components of a carport/canopy)

  • Use video/photograph and other technologies to report/retrieve data on all aspects of installation for quality and compliance.

  • Work with PM’s, subcontractors and vendors to monitor equipment deliveries and develop system to track QAQC for deliveries, shipping methods, unloading material, out of the box defects.

  • Work with engineers and PM’s to create list of, arrange and subcontract for 3rd party inspections

  • Ensure reports are created, monitored and delivered to all stakeholders   

  • Work with PM’s and Engineer’s on cost initiatives with a focus on effects to quality and performance of the system and DSD’s asset.

  • Conduct regular and final visual walk throughs to ensure the project has been completed to specifications, drawings and QAQC program.

  • Fill in for PM on an as needed basis to ensure project timelines, costs, safety, communication and compliance aspects of the project are met.

  • Assist in the programming and commissioning process as needed.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Construction management experience in the solar industry

  • Related field with 10 years of experience or equivalent.

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Systems Preferred

  • Project management or other experience in power generation industries

     

Desired Characteristics

 

  • Experience dealing with federal, state and local agencies for various permits and entitlements  

  • Demonstrated skills in project planning software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.)

  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to adapt to new softwares and technologies

  • Licensed electrician

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems

  • Strong electrical background specific to the solar industry

  • Strong knowledge of roof top and groundmount racking systems

  • Ability to work remotely and independently and be a self-starter

  • General Construction experience

  • High level of project construction knowledge and subcontractor relationships

  • Ability to travel.  High level of travel is needed for this position.
