Job Purpose / Objective

The Courier is responsible for driving Helping Mamas vehicles to and from distribution and pick up sites. Helping Mamas Courier goes beyond the role of a typical driver in that they function as the face of Helping Mamas in the community and are in constant interaction with Helping Mamas’ partners, donors and volunteers.

Essential Functions & Primary Duties

  • Drives the Helping Mamas van while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations, following the daily schedule, and allowing for changes that may come up during the day.
  • Transports items between Helping Mamas warehouse, office, distribution and pick up sites. 
  • Interacts face-to-face with Helping Mamas Program and Warehouse staff, non-profit partner staff and members of the community that Helping Mamas serves. 
  • Keeps in regular contact throughout the day with the Program Coordinator.
  • In some cases, coordinates via phone and email with distribution sites and Program staff to schedule drop-offs.
  • Ensures vehicles are kept clean and organized
  • Oversees maintenance for Helping Mamas vehicles 
  • Other driving related tasks as required. 
  • Other duties as needed such as assisting the Helping Mamas warehouse team. These tasks include, moving boxes and pallets, assisting with warehouse organization, packaging items, preparing orders, and receiving shipments

Qualifications Required 

  • Warm, friendly, respectful demeanor and outgoing personality. 
  • Valid driver’s license and exceptional driving record. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently. 
  • Comfortable driving throughout Georgia.
  • Must be 25 years old or older. 
  • Experience driving a cargo van or commercial box truck.
  • Must be willing to get forklift certification and drive the forklift as needed.

Part Time - ~28 hours/week

Salary Range: $17-$20/hr
