Cambium is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our growing team in El Segundo, CA. THE ROLE

Cambium is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our resin development team. You’ll work closely with scientists and engineers to contribute to research and testing activities. This will be a hands-on role and you will be involved in the entire process. We will provide training and mentorship every step of the way. As Cambium experiences rapid growth, the responsibilities of this role are expected to evolve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Assist scientists/engineers by synthesizing and characterizing new materials

● Follow written and verbal instructions with excellent attention to detail to precisely carry out a wide range of laboratory tasks

● Carefully weigh and mix ingredients for chemical reactions

● Prepare samples for analytical testing. Operate analytical instruments such as NMR, FTIR, DSC

● Use filtration systems to separate and collect chemical products

● Use a vacuum oven to dry and prepare reagents

● Wash chemistry glassware and clean the laboratory space

● Follow all safety protocols and contribute to our culture of safety

● Participate in a wide range of R&D problem-solving activities with an open mind and desire to learn

● Create and contribute to the product demonstration and engineering teams in a manner consistent with Cambium’s mission and values and the growth of Cambium’s business

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

● High school diploma or equivalency certificate

● 3-5+ years experience working in a formulation or chemistry laboratory

● Familiarity of standard laboratory practices

● Have a strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role

● Detail oriented, meticulous, and patient working style

● Ability to complete tasks on time

● Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship

● Superb communication skills and team-oriented mindset

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Experience with laboratory work (wet chemistry)

● Experience with any or all of the following analytical equipment: NMR, FTIR, HPLC, rheometer, DSC, TGA

$27 - $35 /hr ($56,160 - $72,800 /year equivalent)
