Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Learning + Development Director. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as they embark on their next stage of accelerated growth. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience building training strategy in a retail environment, has worked with learning management systems (LMS), and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).


The Learning and Development Director oversees all training operations company-wide. They will ensure that our training programs for all positions are properly built out, maintained, and administered by best-in-class trainers. A majority of this role will be focused in the development of training strategy for our retail operations. Additionally, this person will oversee all content build out and administration in our LMS, Absorb. Overall, this person should see training as a tool to not only ensure consistency, but also build culture.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with key stakeholders to strategize, design, and implement people development strategy that is in alignment with Van Leeuwen’s leadership principles and overall company goals
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to assess training needs and develop training strategies that support the team as a whole
  • Oversees the corporate onboarding training process, which includes scheduling all onboarding meetings and touchpoints
  • Identifies people development needs and builds out the training to support individual and team growth
  • Mobilizes greater team to support and administer training programs and holds training leaders accountable for results
  • Builds leadership-centered development training programs to build a strong internal bench
  • Is able to strategically pinpoint areas that require new training and retraining and build out the systems to address gaps.
  • Maintains our LMS ensuring all systems are up-to-date and content is updated to reflect business needs
  • Uses training as a tool to ensure compliance company-wide
  • Identifies training and certifications required by role and by market and locates the resources (internal and external) required to ensure all employees meet legal standards (ServSafe, forklift, etc)
  • Strategically expands training department to support the growing business
  • Keeps current with learning and development trends by conducting research and tapping their network


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in training and compliance related roles
  • Experience with LMS
  • Proven excellence building and administering training programs
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Creative savvy
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
