Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Team Lead, based out of our Los Angeles area ice cream truck. Our truck makes its way to catering events around LA County and the surrounding area. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the growing team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in food service operations, driven, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).
The Truck Team Lead will report directly to the Los Angeles Area Manager and will supervise their assigned truck shifts. The Team Lead is in charge of ensuring that their shift runs smoothly, customer satisfaction remains high, and team members stay focused and on task.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Train, coach, supervise and provide support to team members on shift
Anchors the team through all operational duties based on the volume of the shift
Anticipates customer and truck needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers
Communicates necessary information to manager
Keeps tabs on the team morale to ensure team is staying positive and productive
Creates a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to team members on shift to ensure operational excellence
Delivers excellent customer service and steps in to assist team members on shift with customers who might need additional assistance
Executes truck operations during scheduled shifts including organizing opening and closing duties as assigned and ensuring truck gets to a from location safely and on time
Assists with admin work as needed such as ordering and inventory
Takes truck to be wrapped, as well as any maintenance or repair appointments
Deeply understands the Van Leeuwen menu and provides quality product to our customers
Follows all policies and procedures and keeps tabs on employees on shift to ensure they are following protocol as well
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Maintains availability that includes at least two weekend days (Fri, Sat, Sun) plus any days deemed necessary by leadership based on needs
REQUIREMENTS
2+ years of management experience in food service (quick service a plus)
Must have valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving an ice cream truck
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to train and coach team members
Ability to multitask
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Ability to stand for long periods of time
