Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Overnight Site Supervisor based out of our Ice Cream Production Facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Our Site Supervisor oversees the cleaning and sanitation of all production equipment and operational spaces. The Site Supervisor will also serve as the lead for all departments during overnight hours (including warehouse). The ideal candidate is someone who is extremely detail oriented, has strong leadership skills, and can thrive in a dynamic paced environment (and loves ice cream!).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that general safety and food safety standards are absolute priority by setting an example to all team members

  • Actively leads cleaning and sanitization efforts of all production equipment and spaces

  • Oversees compliance with routine activities and protection of sensitive equipment during cleaning activities

  • Prepares production equipment for daily operations following the sanitization process

  • Makes recommendations to management of any necessary changes in cleaning, production methods or programs to elevate food sanitation for the facility

  • Continuously reviews sanitation standards, policies and procedures, ensuring the facility adheres to local, state and federal laws and codes 

  • Partners with all federal, state, local and private regulatory inspectors during inspection of the facility

  • Implements policies, programs and procedures with the objective of producing ice cream products free of extraneous material and complying with all regulatory and industry standards

  • Ensures all employees are trained in sanitation procedures and safety matters as required by OSHA, SB 198 e.g. Hazardous Communication, Confined Space and Lock-Out/Tag-Out training

  • Conducts regular plant surveys and documents all sanitization activities

  • Trains teams on the proper inspection and storage of incoming ingredients for evidence of insect infestation or any other extraneous matter

  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety & Quality Plans 

  • Understand, coach and teach the industry leading principles including lean tools, process capability and operational discipline

  • Ability to teach, train and share tech knowledge to all employees, including those in other departments


REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • 2-5 years of experience in a food/beverage manufacturing setting

  • Specialized or Technical training which may be obtained in specialized food industry institutions or equivalent work experience

  • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted

  • Good organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
