Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Retail Area Manager, based out of Los Angeles. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, passionate about operations, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!). 

The Area Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and will supervise the five locations in the Los Angeles Area. The Area Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee the management of the Retail team and the profitability of their assigned ice cream shops. The Area Manager will oversee logistics, staff performance and happiness, scheduling and labor, high-level payroll functions, quality of product, store profitability, store aesthetics and customer service. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Train, coach, supervise and provide support to assigned General Manager and Team Lead’s to achieve store metrics 

  • Ensure successful rollout of new products, systems, practices and policies 

  • Communicate regularly with team members 

  • Work with HR to ensure all company policies are being followed 

  • Partner with HR on staffing efforts 

  • Analyze team performance and provide feedback, guidance, training and encouragement 

  • Provide operational solutions to issues that arise in the stores 

  • Assist team with order placement and delivery coordination 

  • Assist in monitoring overall customer experience 

  • Assist team with health department inspections and preparation 

  • Spend regular time in stores in order to fine-tune processes and keep tabs on employees 

  • Assume leadership role in stores where a manager or lead is not present 


JOB REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a multi-unit manager or area manager position required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google-suite tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to train and coach team members of all levels
  • Ability to multitask
