Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Factory Maintenance Technician in Greenpoint Brooklyn. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.

As the Factory Mechanic-Technician at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream you will be responsible for the various maintenance projects at our production facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We use a variety of equipment to produce and store our ice cream, so it is imperative that our Maintenance team is well-versed in a wide range of plant technologies.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on all factory equipment
- Complete a variety of repair services, including cutting pieces, installations, removing appliances, replacing parts and other duties as needed
- Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary on factory equipment
- Conduct routine inspections of entire premises and equipment
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
- Performing oil changes and minor maintenance on company trucks
Ideal Candidates:
- Related degree from a technical college preferred
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical skills and understand HVAC systems
- Proven maintenance experience
- Experience performing routine maintenance
- Ability to use tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
- High attention to detail
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually
- Strong time management skills
- Must be available for all shifts and days, which could include holidays, and must be comfortable with heights, extreme cold, wet environment
