We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Human Resources to lead all aspects of our people strategy in a fast-paced, growth-oriented EdTech environment. The VP of HR will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for building and scaling our HR function to support our mission to revolutionize education through technology. This role will oversee talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, organizational development, DEI initiatives, and compliance.
This is an on-site role in Austin, Texas with some remote work flexibility. Relocation assistance is available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the company’s goals and culture as a high-growth EdTech company. - Talent Acquisition & Retention:
Lead recruiting efforts to attract top-tier talent across engineering, product, curriculum, marketing, and other departments. Build employer brand and drive innovative hiring practices. - People Operations:
Oversee HR operations including payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS systems. Ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. - Organizational Development:
Drive leadership development, succession planning, and career pathing initiatives to support internal mobility and long-term employee success. - Culture & Engagement:
Champion a culture of inclusion, feedback, continuous learning, and innovation. Design and implement employee engagement programs to enhance satisfaction and retention. - Performance Management:
Refine and scale performance review processes and goal-setting frameworks (e.g., OKRs) that align with company strategy. - Compensation & Benefits:
Develop competitive compensation and total rewards strategies to attract and retain top talent in a competitive EdTech market. - Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws, as well as best practices in remote and hybrid work environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of building and leading HR teams in high-growth tech, private equity, or EdTech companies.
- Deep understanding of talent dynamics in mission-driven or education-related organizations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- Experience managing HR in a distributed or remote-first company is a plus.
