The Director of Marketing works with the Sr. Director of US Marketing to support all assigned products and programs for Catalyst OrthoScience. The Director works with the Sales, Medical Education and R&D teams to help manage the lifecycle of the Catalyst portfolio. The Director’s primary role is to plan, implement, and control all marketing related aspects, both upstream(portfolio) and downstream (Branding) of assigned products. This includes supporting Marketing leadership with long-range strategic planning and short-term tactical execution. The Director of Marketing is expected to meet or exceed product line budget objectives by collaborating with R&D to bring innovative new products to market, by serving as the market expert in their area of expertise and guiding key internal business processes, and by actively supporting the field sales force and customer via creation of collateral, educational, and clinical resources for their product lines. Experience in the shoulder arthroplasty market space and managing key surgeon customers is highly preferred. This position supports the Sr Director, US Marketing in the management and achievement of budgets, forecasts, training plans, and strategic scope of product offering. This position influences manufacturing operations as well as research and development priorities and projects and will have individual ownership of major marketing project initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for ownership and execution of traditional marketing deliverables such as business and strategic plans, pricing, product positioning, promotional strategies, launch plans, life cycle plans and advising on product improvements and new product needs.
• Serve as lead product manager for 3D planning software and patient specific guide instrumentation product portfolio, from product development through launch and branding activities.
• Develop positional and brand strategies for the Catalyst portfolio
• Partner with Marketing Communications to routinely communicate with the sales force regarding product updates and availability, competitive activity, sales positioning, best practices, training, and new product development updates.
• Guide and support overall Marketing team efforts to provide voice of customer / user needs to the engineering project team as needed. This will require regular visits to customers as well as market research to validate Marketing Requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationship with multiple key customers to create and drive product and educational collateral that helps improve product adoption, awareness, and usability.
Drive customer and market engagement strategy through creative branding, social media (in conjunction with MarComm), and collateral development as needed.
• Develop and lead marketing strategy and activity for Catalyst’s “Women in Shoulder” support in the industry space
• Prepare regular product forecasts based on customer information and market analysis in conjunction with sales leadership and sales operations. Analyze product line performance from both a quantitative and qualitative standpoint to determine best method to drive growth.
• Develop and expand technical knowledge necessary for product line management and customer interaction.
• Remain abreast of the market, the competition and the environment. Act as an information resource to all functional areas. Identify key competitors, understand, and analyze the competitive market environment.
• Support product training for HCP's and field sales force in conjunction with Medical Education team as needed, including guidance and development of resource material required
• Support Marketing leadership in effort to manage and develop Marketing team headcount and resources, with potential direct reports in portfolio/brand management
• Support key major industry conferences throughout the year, including development of branding activities, customer outreach, and support for adjacent MedEd activities
• Expected Travel: 30%
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
• 10+ years of Product Management experience in a Medical Device company .
• 5+ years experience in Shoulder Arthroplasty market space highly preferred.
• Experience with 3-D Planning Software programs highly preferred
• Experience conceptualizing, developing and launching medical device utilizing a diverse design team desired.
• Experience leading customer facing training, education, and lab-based courses.
• Experience and confidence in hospital/clinical/operating room environment for product support and surgeon guidance.
