Spirovant is seeking an experienced industry Research Project Management Director with exceptional leadership abilities who will be responsible for scientific planning and execution, as well as tracking of early stage discovery projects and external collaborations. This role will also support the Research department with planning and execution of departmental meetings, Scientific Advisory meetings, budget management and project reviews. This position reports to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and is essentially his Chief of Staff. Strong collaboration with project leaders and other stake holders across the organization is required.

 

Responsibilities:


  • In collaboration with Project Leader, manage discovery stage project teams. Specifically:
  • Develop and execute integrated project plans, identify rate limiting factors and key dependencies
  • Organize and facilitate team agendas, meetings, and presentations; generate meeting minutes
  • Work with finance to manage project budgeting process and monitor project spend.
  • Externally assist in managing relevant stakeholders (e.g. academic collaborators, CROs, etc.) to ensure project plans remain aligned with current business or alliance strategies.
  • Key contributor in building long term project management capabilities to improve operational efficiencies that will support discovery projects.
  • Support Research department with efficient delivery and communication of department-wide strategic initiatives and external collaborations. Specifically:
  • Organize and facilitate department-wide meetings and research leadership team meetings, plan agendas, generate meeting minutes and action plans.
  • Organize and operate meetings with external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with finance through the budgeting process and monitor spending


Requirements:

     

  • Must have a Master’s degree in biological or chemical sciences with a minimum of 8 years’ experience within pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)  PhD is preferred.  PMP certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated successful experience influencing teams
  • Working knowledge and experience with Smartsheet and MS Teams/Sharepoint for project tracking and management.
  • Strong experience in problem solving skills, analytical thinking, and visionary skills. 
  • Experience in  managing projects conducted with academic partners desirable or managing high level cross functional teams or other external relationships.
  • On-site presence for a minimum of 3 days a week is expected.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and negotiation skills are essential. 
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills capable of working with a diverse group of people.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented team player who leads by example, enthusiastically persevere until ambitious goals are achieved, and react to situations quickly and decisively.
