The HIT Support Specialist will demonstrate effective communication within the organization as well as with our healthcare partner staff and their vendors to establish and maintain Health Information System (HIS) access. The HIT Support Specialist will have a keen working knowledge and can demonstrate an understanding of multiple electronic health records systems (EHR), VPNs, remote desktops, and other related software. Thorough knowledge of clinical & EHR workflows, experience training end-users remotely, remote troubleshooting systems and applications, and creating and maintaining training materials are key attributes of the candidate. The HIT Support Specialist will install, configure, and test HIS access, remotely train, and support end-users, and create and manage HIT department instructions and training materials. Supports department team members, as necessary.

Essential Functions

·        Remote assistance, remote troubleshooting, and training as it pertains to testing and implementing the ticket resolutions

·        Install and configure HIS access to practices, including but not limited to: instances, VPNs, remote desktops, other software and configurations as applicable

·        Send login requests, test logins, configure and setup logins, maintain current logins and deactivate logins

·        Write login instructions

·        Setup end users

·        Troubleshoot login issues

·        Assist with creating and updating the department materials such as login instructions

·        Edit training videos

Required Education, Experience, and Competencies

·        Minimum of two years experience working in a healthcare or IT related field performing remote system troubleshooting, support, and training

·        EHR and EHR/ Practice Management (PM) experience and workflow experience, as it pertains to troubleshooting issues and finding resolutions

·        Must know how EHRs/ PMs operate

·        Must be able to learn to troubleshoot EHR login issues and workflow issues by watching EHR videos and reading documentations guides

·        Experience with training, workflow knowledge, and creating and maintaining instructions as they pertain to supporting nurses in the EHR via tickets and EHR login management

Education and Certifications

·        Bachelor or Associate degree in HIT, IT, HIM, Computer Science, or related field, or commensurate experience

·        Comp TIA Healthcare IT Technician certification preferred
