Green City Force (GCF) is seeking a Service Manager to lead and inspire our award-winning Civilian Climate Corps. This role is pivotal in mentoring young adults from public and affordable housing developments as they embark on a transformative journey that combines workforce entry with community service. The Service Manager will be instrumental in fostering the development of both personal and professional skills, ensuring that the Corps members not only contribute positively to their communities but also grow as individuals. This position represents an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people and the health of the environment.
Reporting to the Director of Service, the Service Manager is charged with overseeing service, compliance, and Corps Member development across Eco-Hub sites at New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) locations. You will directly supervise a team of Service Coordinators and work closely with the Service Operations Team.
This position is partially based in the field and requires regular travel to service sites in all five boroughs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Coordinator Supervision

Directly supervise a team of Service Coordinators assigned to Eco-Hub locations across the city, ensuring that they have the direction, necessary materials, and information for delivery of service.

Lead the recruitment of new hires into the Service Coordinator position

Coach and support staff to develop, refine, and strengthen their productivity while in the field and develop systems and processes that allow for stronger program delivery. This includes identifying and recommending opportunities for staff professional development.
Service Planning and Logistics

Maintain a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and sustain a productive workflow both in the field and in a traditional office environment.

Coordinate team schedules with other program departments involved in the Corps Member experience. This Includes Corps Member training, professional development, and extra service opportunities.

Provide logistics/ troubleshooting support, coordinate and communicate extra service opportunities to members, support coordination of field trips and training, troubleshoot scheduling issues that arise, and

Coordinate procurement and distribution of program-related materials to members and sites (including Metrocards, stipends, uniform items, and printed materials).

Work in collaboration across teams on logistics related to community events, training, and site visits and ensure your team understands expectations and responsibilities.
Compliance and Data

Ensure site safety and compliance with applicable policies and protocols.

Track Corps Member and program metrics, including daily attendance, service hours, and other Corps Member outcomes. Support communications and reporting on these metrics.

Supervise and hold accountable Service Coordinators to ensure correct and timely responses to information and data requests.
Corps Member Accountability:

The Service Manager is responsible for member disciplinary meetings and conflict resolution, often coordinating with the Support Services team on key youth development practices and member challenges.

Support the development and implementation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for members struggling to meet programmatic expectations.
Communication

Provide clear and timely updates as requested and needed.

Maintain supporting documentation for performance management, disciplinary actions, and any safety and policy compliance issues that arise.
Community Partnerships

Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with current and potential GCF partner organizations, including service partners, corporate sponsors, foundations, city agencies, employer partners, and NYCHA partners at many levels.

Attend evening and weekend events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements:
-
Commitment to youth development, social and economic justice, and sustainable development; passion for Green City Force’s mission
-
2-4 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, clean energy training or workforce development, youth development, national service, sustainability sector, community organizing in low-income communities
-
Previous demonstrated effective leadership role with young adults ages 18 – 24 from public housing or other low-income communities

Demonstrated the ability to support/ mentor others to execute with excellence

High level of professionalism, integrity, work ethic, accountability and responsibility
-
Highly organized self-starter; ability to take direction, structure tasks, establish priorities, and set goals

Ability to solve problems, mediate conflicts, and exercise sound judgment

Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, excellent collaborative and teamwork skills

Strong project management skills - experience with creating project plans, setting goals and deadlines, and keeping a team on schedule to meet deadlines

Valid New York State driver’s license or commitment to obtaining driver’s license within the first 6 months of employment
