OVERVIEW

Green City Force’s Social Enterprise is seeking alumni to conduct community outreach and support enrollment into community solar with our partner PowerMarket. In this position, you will have a key role in educating, engaging, and enrolling NYCHA residents. In your day-to-day outreach, you will help households sign up for community solar projects, giving them guaranteed monthly savings on their utility bills. We are looking for hard-working, diligent, and passionate individuals to serve as ambassadors for clean energy and community solar, bringing meaningful benefits to those in your community who participate.

 

This is a two-month pilot, working full-time, five-day work week, eight hours per day, and paid holidays. The Community Outreach ATE reports to the Green City Force Social Enterprise Senior Project Manager. 

 

ABOUT POWERMARKET
PowerMarket is a leader in community solar engagement, management, and administration. They are committed to making clean energy more accessible, affordable, and widespread and work with a variety of environmental advocacy and community groups to do outreach and education about the energy transition we're in the midst of. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel onsite to housing development in Brooklyn to conduct daily face-to-face outreach to community members, including door-knocking and phone banking. 

  • Effectively communicate the benefits of joining a community solar project and helping residents understand the program. 

  • Engage community members in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Manage and support subscribers as they move through enrollment and onboarding, whether by online sign-up or via paper enrollment.

  • Seek referrals to other neighbors, friends, and family that are also eligible to enroll.

  • Host info sessions and speak to audiences at relevant events to help engage potential subscribers.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience as a Green City Force AmeriCorps member in good standing

  • Comfortable talking to strangers, knocking on doors, and unafraid of rejection.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a creative mindset and passionate about community solar and the clean energy future.

  • Can take and follow directions quickly.

  • Proficiency with web interfaces to support online enrollment.

  • Commitment to, social and economic justice, and sustainable development; passion for Green City Force’s mission 

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, work ethic, accountability, time management, and responsibility 

  • Ability to solve problems, think on your feet,  and exercise sound judgment 

  • Good communication skills, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, excellent collaborative and teamwork skills 

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Founded in 2009, Green City Force’s (GCF) mission is to break the cycle of poverty, preparing urban young adults to succeed in their chosen careers by engaging them in service, training, and work experiences related to the clean energy economy.
