The Career Services Coordinator provides Green City Force (GCF) Corps Members with much-needed support and feedback to develop the skills to prepare them for placement in sustainable careers. They ensure that members are receiving the coaching they need to identify their career pathway, understand what is necessary to graduate and enter into alumnihood ready to grow in their careers. 

The Career Services Coordinator works collaboratively with the larger Career Services team as well as a multidisciplinary program team to provide effective career placement support, with access to wrap-around services needed to support career mobility, as well as short and long term job retention.

The Career Services Coordinator is part of the Career Services Team. They report directly to the Career Services Manager.

DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support a caseload of 30-40 Corps Members in identifying their career interests and post program goals

  • Engage members in 1:1 coaching meetings, develop Career Services Individual Development Plans (IDPs) where members are defining their career goals, action steps and necessary supports

  • Provide direct coaching and feedback that reinforces professional expectations for Corps Members during service, professional development and networking opportunities

  • Coordinate and communicate with Service Coordinators (team leaders and supervisors of participants) to facilitate alignment on member success

  • Coach Corps Members on the completion of career preparation tasks like resumes, mock interviews, and job applications

  • Provide support to the Career Services manager to ensure that members are prepared for their transition to alumnihood with strong connections to Green City Force

  • Refer Corps Members to internal resources (our team of in house social workers) and external resources (for education and employment support), creating a follow up plan as necessary

  • Support and lead facilitation of group meetings or workshops, including career readiness workshops or topical sessions such as college access, financial planning, student loan strategies and more

  • Maintain progress notes on all contacts with Corps Members, collect and complete all necessary documentation and reports related to program activities

  • Work in close coordination with the other program team members to meet  graduation, placement, and retention targets, and to ensure a seamless, positive experience for each participant



QUALIFICATIONS


  • Commitment to youth development, social and economic justice, and sustainable communities; passion for Green City Force’s mission

  • 1-2 years of direct experience for Coordinator, and 2 + years of experience for Senior Coordinator, in career services and career counseling, workforce development, youth development, national service, sustainability sector, community organizing in low-income communities, construction, or military 

  • Previous demonstrated effective leadership role with young adults ages 18 – 24 from public housing or other low-income communities

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, work ethic, accountability, and responsibility

  • Highly organized self-starter; ability to take direction, structure tasks, establish priorities, and set goals

  • Ability to solve problems, mediate conflicts and exercise sound judgment 

  • Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, excellent collaborative and teamwork skills

  • Enthusiasm for, and personal commitment to, healthy sustainable living choices.

  • Direct experience living and/or working in public housing communities is preferred

  • Commitment to cultural diversity and equity

  • Alumnus of Green City Force Service Corps strongly preferred, but not required

  • Familiarity and comfort using computer programs such as Google Drive suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms)
