You are:

An IT System Developer III who thrives on analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of new or existing software applications. 

Your skills and knowledge include:

  • Considerable knowledge of software development platforms, programming languages, frameworks, basic server administration, and design patterns.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to prepare system designs, workflow plans, and report/input/output documents.
  • Ability to perform software and database design and construct specifications.
  • Ability to convert user specifications into successful applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate system performance and estimate development costs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure from deadlines.

Examples of work you may perform include:

  • Analyzing user needs and prioritizing requests for new or enhanced applications.
  • Designing capacity plans based on user requests and resources.
  • Planning for disaster recovery, security implementation, and performance management.
  • Coordinating resources, schedules, systems, servers, and communications for application development projects.
  • Creating proposals for implementing new or revised services.
  • Researching, evaluating, and recommending database management systems, software, compilers, and utilities.
  • Developing detailed specifications using tested methods.
  • Conducting research to keep current on technologies and methods.
  • Maintaining security of systems and data.
  • Performing related duties as required.

Specific Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Associate’s degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Six (6) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
