You are:

An IT System Administrator V who thrives on ensuring systems are operational, reliable, and well-maintained, supporting future growth requirements as technology evolves.

  • Expert technical knowledge of IT infrastructure including systems, servers, operating systems, databases, networks, telecommunications, storage platforms, hardware, and software.
  • Expert technical knowledge of modern server topologies.

  • Ability to manage and supervise a highly skilled and professional staff.

Examples of work you may perform include:

  • Assuming responsibility for all System Administration activity within the organization's IT systems.
  • Scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing IT System Administration work/tasks.
  • Directing staff and resources to address IT System Administration issues/outages.
  • Assuming responsibility for staffing levels and training.
  • Ensuring training and cross-training of staff is current.
  • Directing and ensuring compliance with change management procedures.
  • Developing IT strategic plans, budgets, and recommending infrastructure purchases.
  • Conducting research to keep current on technologies and methods.
  • Overseeing development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
  • Assuming responsibility for IT projects research, scope definition, design, implementation, and support.
  • Writing/developing requests for quotes and proposals to engage vendor assistance.
  • Managing vendors to ensure system deliverables and activities are in conformance with the contract.
  • Serving as primary server/systems infrastructure contact for vendors, partners, and IT staff.
  • Collaborating with other IT departments and management staff.
  • Managing System Administrators in achieving objectives.
  • Providing and maintaining the organization's IT systems budget.
  • Assuming responsibility for performance management of direct reports.
  • May perform lower-level IT System Administrator duties as required.
  • Developing presentations and reports related to IT system performance, metrics, services, budgets, staffing, etc.
  • Representing the organization when working with other IT departments.
  • Serving as IT representative on technical steering committees and governance bodies.

Specific Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science AND five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Associate’s degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND six (6) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
