You are:

An IT Specialist V who thrives on ensuring technology is optimized for citizen experience and operation efficiencies. 

Your skills and knowledge include:

  • Thorough knowledge and skills in multiple areas including web development, database administration, mainframes, call centers, networking, server administration, storage devices, desktop and enterprise software, mobile device management, and imaging.
  • Ability to evaluate program situations in terms of IT applications and enhancements, and cost effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and planning techniques and procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills including analytics and communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects amid shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Ability to translate user requirements into a successful IT application.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Examples of work you may perform include:

  • Mentoring other unit IT supervisors with supervisory issues, ensures proper staffing of multiple teams, and ensures staff are properly trained and cross-trained.
  • Providing leadership and oversight to assigned projects.
  • May provide supervision as well as training and instruction to lower-level IT staff.
  • Collaborating with other IT leaders in the department or agency and across the organization.
  • Responsible for, and serving as, the technical expert for multiple areas of technology.
  • Ensuring compliance with, and adherence to, change management process.
  • Managing end user support for enterprise-wide software upgrades and migration projects.
  • Providing vendor management and working with vendors to find resolutions to complex issues.
  • Working with Agency and department heads to develop IT budgets.
  • Coordinating IT procurement workflow and assuming responsibility for asset inventory.
  • Researching and recommending new technologies and software.
  • Preparing RFPs.
  • Performing related duties as required.

Specific Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science AND three (3) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Associate’s degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration
    OR
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
