POSITION SUMMARY

The Area Shoulder Manager position is intended to accelerate growth by identifying new business opportunities (sales and channel recruitment) and leveraging new marketing programs (NextAR Technology). This also includes customer acquisition and retention. This position reports to the respective Area Director and collaborates closely with Product Management, Regional Sales Managers, Agent Principals and Sales Representatives. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or professional certification in a medical profession.

 

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of 7 years’ overall upper extremity orthopedic sales experience with 3 years sales management experience.

 

Position Specific Requirements:

Hospital Credentialing: You will be required to submit appropriate health documentation to include but not limited to vaccinations, TB testing results, titers, etc.) and complete enrollment processes for 3rd party Hospital Credentialing Groups (HCGs) which may include other requirements as listed by each credentialing group.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational development and demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Superb strategic planning skills a must along with demonstrable sales management achievements.
  • Independent, proactive judgment is employed in problem prevention/solving relating to product development, customers, sales policy, strategy and procedures
  • Considerable discretion and judgment are exercised in decision making involving sales policies and procedures.
  • PC/Microsoft Office software suite, Mac/iOS, general office equipment, orthopedic instruments, automobile, smart phone and mobile apps. 
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Sitting: Extended periods at a desk or workstation.
    • Standing and Walking: Movement within the office or hospital.
    • Lifting and Carrying: Light to moderate lifting of surgical instruments and implant bins up to 40 lbs.

Additional tasks may require reaching, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.

External: Surgeons, Nurses, PAs, Allied Health Professionals, Hospital / ASC Administrators, Economic Buyers, Industry Society Officers/Staff

Internal: Direct Reports, Sales Personnel, Marketing, Sales Administration, Customer Service, Professional Education, Clinical Research, Human Resources, and all Medacta International Personnel

Travel requirements: 75%-80% of travel required

Extent of Confidential Information: Highly confidential information regarding, revenues, budgets, pricing, sales and marketing strategies, customers, customer preferences, and product development

Reporting: Presentations, electronic files, Excel spreadsheets, weekly and monthly forecast updates, sales, expenses, market surveys, and personnel evaluations

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Increase client base (Shoulder Specific)
  • Be able to teach and train surgeons, staff, agents, and representatives on the use of total shoulder, reverse total shoulder, NextAR, and MyShoulder platforms
  • Having an in−depth knowledge of Medacta business products and value proposition
  • Work closely with NextAR team to leverage technology with Shoulder Specific surgeons
  • Organize & review sales collaterals and samples in new markets
  • Work in conjunction with Medacta Corporate Development and Area Director to locate, target, and engage strategic accounts (ASC and Hospital based system) to advance Medacta Corporate programs/initiatives
  • Available for surgeon meetings and sales calls for new markets
  • Accelerate growth to assigned quarterly sales targets
  • Assist with customer acquisitions/retention activities
  • Training in new markets on MUSA operational policies & procedures
  • Work with sales management and marketing to develop sales programs to accelerate sales growth of MUSA products.
  • Complement and assist Medical Education team in Learning Center and regional based activities
  • Recruit existing and new customers to participate in Medical Education programs
  • Recruit new Agents and Representatives to potentially develop a shoulder specific sales channel
  • Attend industry conferences (AAOS, AOAO, ASES etc.)
  • Understanding of current literature and conduct market research to assess market opportunities and trends
  • Understand, train, maintain, and follow HCC policies.
  • Follow all Medacta policies specific to Professional Education.
  • Communication: Email, Voice Mail, Written, Presentations, Customer, and Internal.
  • Remain current reading industry publications, clinical journals, and business publications.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES

Quarterly Sales Meetings, Local Industry Conferences, International Congresses, Domestic and International Company Meetings, participate in select product management activities.
